The Amazing Adventures of Kotetsu & Izumo
Chapter ONE: Shell In The Ocean
Prologue: The story takes place at some point prior to the Great Fourth Ninja World War. Luminous rays of light shine through a window and onto a female's face as she began to answer. A stern expression had been plastered upon her leader's visage as something rather odd had surfaced. A few moments later, two figures suddenly appear before a large desk as the puff of smoke begins to clear.
Izumo: Good morning, Tsunade-sama
Kotetsu: *Sigh* (In thought) Show off..
Tsunade: You both have been assembled this morning for a mission-you both will be a two-man group and the gist is to locate an heirloom my grandfather concealed in undisclosed areas-
Kotetsu: Hmm..interesting-
Narrator: Annoyed by his partner's rudeness, Izumo's eyes shut and he lightly presses a clutched fist onto his lips before letting out a sound.
Izumo: Ahem..excuse him Hime-
Tsunade: I know how he can be..
Kotetsu: My apologies Godaime..
Izumo: (In thought) Baka!
Tsunade: As I was saying..these items were not given to me directly rather mentioned on an old scroll I happened to come across yesterday. For fear of Uchiha Madara or any formidable enemy coming into contact with it was the sole purpose why it had been hidden all this time and once I was able to defend myself and Nawaki-
Narrator: A moment of silence consumes the room as she pauses.
Izumo: (In thought) Tsunade-sama...
Tsunade: ...Forgive me.....at the point in time me and my brother were able to defend ourselves would be when my grandfather permitted us to search for it. The directions were made into a riddle that he knew only we would be able to decipher which I already have. They're six items in total-five special crystal gems symbolizing the five elements though each having a distinct dark tint..
Kotetsu: You mean the same material that your grandfather's necklace was made from?
Izumo: I apologize again-
Tsunade: That is fine-I don't mind his curiosity...and it is in the same shape as well..
Kotetsu: Ah..
Izumo: (In thought) Geez..
Tsunade: The last item is a special safe box and when the gems are situated in its proper placing..it will open. Each gem is scattered in the origin of its represented element and one of the gems have already been found-Take a look..it represents our fire country-
Kotetsu: Its luster is beautiful-
Izumo: Indeed
Tsunade: I have cleared passage in every country you are to visit and everything is listed in this scroll. Lastly-I want these precious stones retrieved in the same condition found!
Izumo: We will not falter you my princess!
Kotetsu: He is right (In thought) Oh no...this isn't what I thought we'd be assigned and how will we be able to find these items!
Tsunade: I see you Kotetsu but I can assure you that this mission will not be easy and without danger..
Kotetsu: (In thought) Alright!
Narrator: Her words possessed adrenaline which turned Kotetsu’s slight frown into excitement.
Kotetsu: Um..I never had a problem Godaime..
Tsunade: Hmm..Right...lastly take this..
Narrator: Izumo held out a stretched hand as Tsunade places a turquoise colored shard onto it.
Tsunade: That fragment will glow in response to any of the item's whereabouts and will cause the gems to unseal.
Kotetsu: It looks exactly like-
Tsunade: It is a piece of the original gem and he enclosed it with the letter in case something were to happen to the necklace.
Izumo: Your grandfather..a very knowledgeable man planning this far in advance..
Tsunade: That he was..
Narrator: With the given assignment discussed, the two head to their homes to prepare for the complex and time consuming journey. As the door closes behind them the gambling Kage interlaces her fingers and begins to ponder.
Tsunade: (In thought) What did you leave behind for us..ojii-sama?
Narrator: The Konoha pair in possession of a backpack exit the Konoha gates and paced through the vast forests and grasslands towards the coastal pier where a boat awaited them. They eventually meet up and are greeted by the boat operator who then started the motor as they began jetting off towards Nami no Kuni and soon pass through the misty waters.
Nami no Kuni Translation
Kotetsu: It sucks that we couldn’t travel through the Naruto bridge-
Izumo: I know-the construction is taking longer than expected and they still haven’t caught the suspects..
Narrator: Several weeks ago, there was an altercation between a few Konoha and Mizu shinobi which quickly turned into a battle that destroyed part of the Naruto Bridge. The Mizu shinobi were able to escape, construction began a couple days later and has yet to be completed. Thus anyone wishing to cross the bridge are forced to use a boat instead. They then arrive in the Nami no Kuni pier.
Izumo: Lets get a move on!
Kotetsu: Alright!
Narrator: The two begin traveling atop the forested now prosperous island. They make good time as they arrive to the backside of the island where the boat to Mizu no Kuni awaited the two. They greeted the boat operator who seemed bothered.
Mizu no Kuni Translation
Kotetsu: (Whispers) What his problem?
Izumo: (Whispers) Don’t worry about it..
Kotetsu: Oh well *giggle* I hope we run into some beautiful kunoichi-
Izumo: Stop joking!-A mission so dear to the princess' heart is something to be taken seriously!
Kotetsu: If that speech of love did not convince me of your obsession for Godai-
Izumo: *Blush* Enough!
Kotetsu: *Chuckle*
Narrator: Their brief conversation changed into a petulant argument which began to annoy the operator further as he rolled his eyes. As time passed, they continue jetting through several small isles before finally reaching the main land which was enveloped in mist.
Kotetsu: Check out this mist!
Boat Operator: Silence!-We may have a fair Mizukage however that does not erase the bloodlust that still plagues this land..
Izumo: Do as he says Kotetsu..
Kotetsu: Alright alright
Izumo: (In thought) I don’t like the atmosphere..
Narrator: Upon parking the boat in the coastline, the pair exit as the operator sped away in an instant.
Kotetsu: How rude..he didn’t even say bye-
Izumo: Lets focus..
Narrator: The two begin traveling through the misty grasslands then the outskirts which contained vegetative hills as the sun began setting and reached the entrance gates of Kirigakure. Suddenly, the mist around them began to thicken profoundly in the dusk of the day.
Kirigakure Translation
Kotetsu: Izumo..I can't see anything before me-
Izumo: I know this has to be a hidden mist jutsu..
[Jutsu Insight]
Narrator: Sounds of wet grass being quickly stepped upon can be heard.
Kotetsu: (Whispering) It appears we were not as welcomed as we thought..
Izumo: (Whispering) But who?
