Just like Tupac "it was all a dream". No, but seriously nice read. It would definetly be a great plot twist, however the characters seem to in depth to just write them all out as fake.

Nice. Really nice. I have my own thoughts and I am curious about that "solution" too, but I would rather hear it for later so I can feel the "surprise" if ever that thing comes in to play in the manga. You can PM it to me and I'll just leave it unopened until that day.

And about the "it was a genjutsu all along" thing, kinda reminds me of the ending of both Full Metal Alchemist and Flame of Recca to name a few. :D

Sick theory man. If I understood correctly, you meant that the Rikudou Sennin and the Juubi are both trapped in this genjutsu, with Naruto and Sasuke only being figments of the genjutsu that represent them.

I was kinda confused about what you meant when you said that someone can escape the genjutsu by becoming all that is evil. Did you mean that Sasuke, by going down the path of evil he is on, would somehow learn that he was in the genjutsu and find a way to break it? The only solution i can see actually happening is that Naruto (who is actually So6P) will somehow break the genjutsu by defeating Sasuke (the Juubi).

This would definitely be an insane plot twist, and you provided good support. However, i don't know that i'd actually like if Kishi did this, some of the characters feel so real that I'd hate for them to just disappear in the end D:

+rep for the great theory and making me actually think :D

I do not think Naruto is meant to be the new SO6P, nor do I think Sasuke will be a reincarnated Juubi. I honestly stopped after reading 4 of your theories simply because I find all of them ridiculous.

I've only written one theory, and it's more of a speculation than a theory.

This is all pure speculation about the timeline of Naruto, so keep that in mind while reading. Also I figured some people will through it to side and dismiss it as nonsense. These are the some that through the possibility of a Ten-Tails or Karin being an Uzumaki to the side and dismiss it as well. All in all, I would encourage you to keep an open mind while reading. For those, who dislike reading long texts I have included a concise summary at the end of this post. ;)

Forever Rivals:

After reading some theories here on the base, I began pondering over the fact how the author has Naruto setup as being the new Rikudou Sennin. This made me question how the author was going to keep Sasuke as Naruto’s equivalent, for the Rikudou Sennin defeats all Shinobi in the Naruto Universe simply because he is an analogous to a God; therefore a God can handle any adversary that comes his way right? It’s presuming, but that isn’t always the case. The only know adversary to have been on an equal level and clashed with the Sage is the Juubi, and it seems to me that Sasuke may very well be the incarnation. This is the only way for the author to keep Sasuke as Naruto’s equivalent, with the implications the story has been giving thus far, there is no better suited analogy than Sasuke to being the incarnation of the Juubi.

A Legendary Battle With Eternal Consequences:

The battle concerning the Sage and the Juubi is believed of many in the Naruto World as a simple legend. This legend however, may hold the very validity of the world, but unfortunately it is recondite; therefore it may be shrouded with the glimmering truths of the world and the sorrowful portentous secrets of it as well. As I was rereading some chapter, I realized something important, why the Great Toad Sage couldn’t remember who Naruto was, the Great Toad Sage has seemingly been alive for hundreds, and possibly thousands of years and for him not remember the Naruto with all the implications of him being the Sage is surprisingly awkward. This leads me to suspect that maybe the Juubi did something to the world before being either sealed into the Rikudou Sennin or cast to the moon. I’ve been thinking that the Juubi may have possibly placed the world in some sort of genjutsu. The genjutsu that was cast was a genjutsu that focuses on and targets the inhabitant’s memories and represses them making it so nothing has any recollection of much if anything at all; thus keeping them in a time loop.

A Possible End:

I was thoughtful about how could this be turned around- in a sense of escaping this genjutsu and wouldn’t it eventually fade away. The answer to the former, may have been becoming the embodiment of all this is destructive, bad, damaging, etc. once that was done that ‘being ‘ could escape the genjutsu and be free from its hold over them, but not the time loop they were in. To answer the latter if whether or not the genjutsu would eventually fade away, the Juubi must have done something to keep its influenced over the world, one speculation was just by having it’s charka in the world, the genjutsu would continue to maintain its properties. Thinking about it in a certain sense, the timeline of Naruto doesn’t make any sense; there are certain gaps in the story that are just too great to be ignored such as the Elder Son vs. the Younger Son, but the greatest is Tobi’s existence.

Naruto's Narrative:

It seems the story of Naruto follows a presumably disjointed narrative or a nonlinear timeline, it doesn’t follow the beginning, but instead Naruto in particular picks up the story in the middle; when we see Naruto being born-then is where it starts. To elaborate more on this narrative it usually uses a great deal of flashbacks and the point of view from different characters (more was used in part one then in part two, but the general rules still applies). Certainly if the author is using this technique for the story of Naruto, then the time loop concept for it could certainly fit in as well. The only problem would be is piecing it all together, and due to the nature of how this topic was approached, it’s an entire new concept.

Summary:

Concise Summary: I believe that before the Juubi was sealed or cast to the moon, it set a genjutsu on the world as part as its curse. This genjutsu put all of the inhabitants of the planet and a loop, and in a repressive state where they could not remember anything from the previous loop. It also claims Sasuke as being the Juubi, and Naruto the Rikudou Sennin.

Very well written, you have an extraordinary vocabulary compared to the rest of the base.

However, I don't know if you have all of your facts correct. To begin with, the Riduko sennin became the jinchuriki of the 10 tails, and then on his death bed split it and sealed the body in the moon. I honestly don't see where exactly the 10 tails would have the chance to cast a genjutsu on the world, especially without the Sage noticing.

Also, I don't think the sage and the Juubi "battled" it seems more as though the Sage put the Juubi under a genjutsu, or "tamed" it and became a perfect jinchuriki. Now, you COULD reflect this as foreshadowing that Naruto will "tame" Sasuke and turn him to the good side, but I personally do not see the Naruto/Sage Sasuke/Juubi connection being made by the author.

Finally, your point about the toad sage forgetting Naruto, I think you looked a little deeply into that one. You said it! At that age, forgetfullness is kind of a thing. Also people tend to stop caring so much. It's more possible that the Toad Sage just didn't care enough about Naruto and the fate of the world at its forgetful age. To me, that's less of a stretch of the imagination.

I personally find this far too far-fetched to believe, but I won't forget it, and I'll look for signs from now on to see if there can be further proof regarding this theory. At least it's something new.

Interesting idea but it is rather farfetched. If your idea was correct that would mean the genjutsu would also alter reality to the point that it changed physical characteristics. If the S06P, Hashi, and Naruto were all the same person then the jutsu set by the Juubi would have changed them genetically and it would have to reset their ages as well. It would be Creation of All Things like.

I viewed Naruto to be like the Younger son and Sasuke to be like the Elder son.

I COMPLETELY agree with all these theories! You, sir/ma'am, are very smart! It makes so much sense that Sasuke's the Juubi's reincarnation, because Tobi plans to synchronize him with the Gedo Mazou, which is the Juubi's vessel, according to manga chapter 594. And, just for the record, I absolutely LOVE how all these theories are incredibly intellectual and convincing while you have a picture of Itachi as your profile pic!

Due to the characteristics of Naruto and Sasuke I put them in their respective places. Naruto's goal is to seek peace, whilst Sasuke's goal is to cause destruction.

Yes, but when we look at Kurama's flash back the Sage says that someone would come a long and reunite all the tailed beasts. He also said this person would be able to do what he could not.(to me this means reform the Juubi) Maybe that person is Naruto, and maybe he will become the host for the Juubi.

I say this because, it was Naruto that reunited almost all of them during his fight with Tobi and the Jinchuriki. This is a pretty obvious foreshadow in my opinion, that Naruto will be bring peace of mind to the Juubi by bringing happiness to the tailed beasts before they turn into Juubi once again.

Sasuke and Naruto's characteristics represent more of the older son vs. the younger son more so than the Sage Vs. The juubi. Naruto is Uzumaki(distant relative of Senju who were relatives to the younger son) Sasuke is Uchiha(relative of the older son). Tobi himself stated during the Kage summit when speaking to Naruto that he saw the cursed hate of the Uchiha burn strong within Sasuke, and on the other hand saw the Senju will of fire burn within Naruto. Again pretty obvious foreshadow.

Naruto Vs. Sasuke seems inevitable, and It will be the deciding battle for peace.

To everyone that is wondering, this is actually one theory. I just thought if a broke it down into pieces, it would not be so hard on the eyes.

nice theory....and may be that is why the cycle of hatred has been also in a loop since the time of SO6P sons.....+rep bro..

If it is then....the only person getting out of this loop...genjutsu.....is Naruto....cause he conquered his hatred...

I don't find it possible, Sasuke wouldn't have the Juubi because it's weak. Even if he did have a small portion of the Juubi, Naruto would kill him.

I just figured I would write something new, it was tiring to see countless "X vs. Y" threads. That's all since it's all speculation, I do not assume for this to actually happened.
