[Discussion] The Akatsuki

Has anyone else wondered why anyone would join Akatsuki? Nagato, Konan and Tobi's motivations have already been revealed. We also know that Itachi joined so he could keep an eye on the most dangerous organization ever, and we know that Deidara was pretty much forced to join, but what about everyone else?

Kisame (to an extent), Sasori, Kakuzu, Hidan, and Zetsu have never really been explained. Were they being paid an insane amount of money? Did they agree with the ideologies of Pain? Or do they just seem like the kind of guys who enjoy killing people for no apparent reason?​

Kisame - Manipulated by Tobi into believing about making the world a much more better place.

Kakuzu- Most likely for the money as he was sort of a bounty hunter, bingo book .

Hidan - Well not entirely sure about Hidan's motives but he does make a good partner with Kakuzu as Kakuzu sort of has a temper snapping and killing people apparently. Then again Hidan requires a sort of excuse for killing people to feed his God xd . Actually if you think about it both Kakuzu and Hidan share experiences of immortality for certain period.

Zetsu- Well he is Tobi's pet lol

Sasori- Not sure but fitted perfectly as he had unique talent.

Yeah Tobi or Nagato probably just messed with their emotions much like tobi did to Kisame, Kakuzu was thrown out of his village and Sasori become cold after his parents died, Hidan... well Hidan is just a killer Tobi or Nagato most likely just took advantage of that and promised them some kind of new world. That's my guess.

Kakauzu joined in order to collect the hearts of powerful shinobi and to collect the bounties of his enemies more easily.

Hidan joined mainly because he was a monster and loved to kill for his own satisfaction and to appease his God Jashin.

Sasori joined mainly because he was an outlaw for making human puppets and I guess he had no where else to go.

Kisame joined because he has seen the true face of Tobi, and he some how recognized him and trusted in his abilities enough to join him. He was also an outlaw to his village and well the rest of his reasoning hasn't been explained yet.

Nagato mentioned the akatsuki members reasons for joining when he was explaining their plan, can't find the page though.

Kisame- a world without lies
Kakuzu- money
Hidan- religion

Kisame - it's not entirely clear, but it's likely that Tobi led Kisame to Akatsuki. There's not a lot of reason for Tobi to reveal his face to Kisame otherwise.

Itachi - I don't think Itachi was necessarily watching Akatsuki so much as watching Danzo and Konoha. He had to make sure his brother wasn't going to be killed off after he left the village, and Akatsuki provided him a means to do so.

Sasori - Actually.... I think Sasori agreed with Konan and Nagato's outlook. The village system and war was what robbed him of his parents. The fact that he was kind of a sociopath that liked murdering people so he could hollow out their corpse and make new puppets is entirely secondary.

Deidara - As mentioned, he was forced into service. I think he still committed to it on some level though.

Hidan - Hidan was a loose canon. His fanaticism coupled with dark god's need for murder, made him unstable. The fact that Akatsuki had a goal that would let him do some murdering was probably part of why he got into it, but Kakuzu's ability to put him back together again didn't hurt.

Kakuzu - Of all the members of Akatsuki, Kakuzu seems the most straight forward. He wanted money and support. He had lived long enough to see the pain and hatred that the village system caused, so he probably wasn't opposed to Konan and Nagato's goals.

Tobi, Nagato, Konan, and Zetsu are explained in the manga in much detail.
