Chapter 7: The Demon and the Dragon’s Fangs Part 2

Rouzuke was suddenly covered by black chakra. The chakra took the form of a skeleton, with the ribs sprouting first, then the arms and the head. The head had three pairs of eye sockets, three nose holes and jaws. The arms that materialized totalled to eight. Hibiki was washed away with the sudden coldness in the air.

“To have pushed me this far to use even Susano’o,” Rouzuke started, his head bowed down and his arms dangling lifelessly in front of him, his voice as low and hoarse as it can be. “You are surely a remarkable kid. Too bad you will all perish.”

Two of the Susano’o’s arms grabbed the chains and crushed them with ease. More chains erupted from Hibiki’s scroll. But these seemed to only piss off their foe more.

The skeleton form was bound with the chains, yet muscles appeared and destroyed the binding. The two suspended blades targeted Hitomi, soaring through air without stopping. Hibiki made a run towards it, but someone else parried the attack. It was Hyuga Neji, deflecting the blades with his Rotation.

Hibiki felt a fleeting sense of relief. There was another attack, a drilling attack that was aimed at the Susano’o; it was Inuzuka Kiba and Akamaru, their Fang Wolf Fang hitting against the tough chakra armor of their opponent. Followed by that attack was a large boulder, a human boulder, trying to crush the other side of the armor; Akamichi Chouji used his full strength of the Human Boulder Technique.

Despite the combination of two devastating attacks, the Susano’o merely shoved them off like pesky flies. Another incoming attack connected. With a flash of lightning, Hatake Kakashi, his Sharingan in full view, tried to pierce through Rouzuke, who weaved seals for his Swift Release, thus succeeding in avoiding the damage.

“HELL YEAH!”

The Muscled Susano’o was hit hard by something. It was Haruno Sakura. She sent Rouzuke high in the air, where Rock Lee and Tenten were waiting. Tenten unleashed a flurry of ninja tools against Rouzuke, followed by a Front Lotus delivered by Rock Lee in his Eight Inner Gates state. Rouzuke collided to the ground with a quaking blast.

It wasn’t effective. Not one of their physical attacks had an effect on Rouzuke or his Susano’o. A swarm of bugs started to surround him, taking a form of a ball made of bugs. Aburame Shino controlled the bugs with ease, and tried to suppress Rouzuke by letting the bugs suck out the latter’s chakra dry. The Dragon Sword’s gems lit red and burst into flames, killing the bugs that came in contact with it. Then the gems glowed yellow and lightning sparks flew towards the bug-user, who barely managed to dodge the sudden counter attack.

“Damn,” Hibiki said, wondering as he witnessed these events. “Is there no end to his chakra reserves?”

By this time, Rouzuke’s Susano’o already assumed its final form, the heads wearing a large straw hat, with its mouths covered behind a huge high-collared cloak, and the eight arms tucked comfortably under each sleeve, while holding an assortment of large bladed weapons.

“Steel Release: Blades of Susano’o,” Rouzuke whispered, his personality changing drastically. “I do not wish to end your lives in this meaningless conflict, yet your Hokage chose to leave you all behind to die just for a brat. So I have no choice but to let you all rot in Hell!”

He erupted with a loud roar, the earth suddenly cracking open. With a loud hiss, Hibiki and the others noticed that the cracks were overflowing with lava and they were forced to go to higher ground. The lava flowed from the ground and started to spray into the air and flowed throughout the forest and approached fast towards the village gates. ANBU members tried to suppress the fast-flowing lava with Collaboration Techniques of Wind, Water and Earth Release techniques with effort. Hibiki used his own Wind Release to halt and divert the flow of lava from the gates back to Rouzuke, yet the latter seemed to be unaffected by the scorching heat.

Hibiki knew he would be running low on chakra anytime should the battle drag on, yet their strong adversary seemed too eager to kill them off. He looked around, noticing that most of the ANBU members were occupied with stopping the lava flow, while the remaining ninja had their chakra levels diminishing as quickly as ever. He even saw how chakra enters Rouzuke’s body simultaneously with the outgoing chakra. Then it hit him.

“It can’t be,” Hibiki muttered. “He’s sucking in Nature chakra. But he’s constantly moving and expending chakra with his Susano’o and those blades.”

But his train of thought was crushed as he dodged another flurry of swings from Rouzuke’s Dragon Sword and Fang Blade. Rouzuke himself threw thousands of shuriken in all directions, forcing the remaining ninja to scatter in mid-air. It was a trap, as Rouzuke immediately took to the air as well; his Susano’o was still activated, and wildly swung the blades at the hovering enemies. Many of the unsuspecting shinobi fell down to the treetops, with the lava hardening and safe to land on. The remaining fighters were mostly chunin shinobi.

Hibiki tried again to assess the situation. But no matter how he looked at it, they were all leading to the losing side. Their opponent virtually had almost unlimited chakra reserves. The battle could rage on until they all died of exhaustion and complete depletion of chakra. He had to do something, but what?

He saw Hitomi, still safe in the confines of the forest with his scroll. The ANBU have already finished cooling the lava and were trying to confront and defeat Rouzuke. He noticed something else. It was Rouzuke’s skin. He didn’t notice it before, but their opponent’s skin seemed to peel off as if being burned into crisps by white-hot flames.

Apparently even Rouzuke noticed this, since he immediately deactivated his Susano’o and retracted his two swords with the linen wraps again to his back. He reached under his cloak for a new pair of shades which he wore with flair. Even the surrounding foes took note of his patches of raw and bleeding skin.

“Damn you all,” Rouzuke began suddenly, surprising the surrounding ninja. “You’ve pushed me to my limits far enough. I’ve already killed some of your comrades, majority of the remaining rendered incapacitated. Back off and I’ll let the rest of you live.”

“Not so fast,” Hibiki intervened, his right foot stepping forward as he pointed his naginata at his target, assuming a battle stance. “Even if you’d let us go, you already know that we will still pursue you. I now know that using your eyes as well as your weapons have some sort of risk to your body and prolonged usage will probably take your life as well.”

“Splendid observation, kid,” Rouzuke replied, as he smirked the same jesting smirk he made when they fought in the Hokage’s office. Even though Hibiki knew his opponent’s possibly only weakness, he still sweated globules as he observed the way chakra still seeped into the enemy’s body as the owner talked. “But enough chitchat. You’ve been one of the few people who have lasted from my attacks with only bruises and minor cuts. It seems to me that your weapon is indeed a valuable blade to add to my growing collection. It’s time for me to end this senseless struggle, you unworthy pricks.”

Rouzuke punched both of his clenched fists together, and black chakra emanated and circled the ground beneath him. Black streaks of chakra lined the air, surrounding him in a thin veil. Within moments, the black chakra started to seep in through the raw skin, slowly but steadily healing them.

“Shit!” Hibiki thought, after realizing what Rouzuke was doing. He lunged with his spinning naginata through the latter, in a desperate attempt to break the healing technique. “Sword Style: Spinners’ End!”

It was too late however, as the drilling blade met Rouzuke’s metallic body with a screech. Yet it was a diversion as spiky bronze chains from behind Hibiki sprung and tightly bound Rouzuke, with the latter being shocked at the diversion. Hibiki jumped away from Rouzuke and Hitomi was revealed with the open scroll, the chains connecting to the Eight Trigrams Seal which was visible on the white surface. The chains slowly pulled Rouzuke, who for some reason couldn’t escape and break away from the binding. He was inches away from being sealed completely when he unexpectedly smiled and eventually laughed a demonic laugh as the seal devoured him into the scroll, his laughter echoing in everyone’s ears. Hitomi sat back as she sighed with relief and the scroll rolled itself close.

With the others cheering, thinking that they’ve won, Hibiki strode towards Hitomi and his scroll as he tied his blindfold back on. He laid a palm on the bound scroll, and made Hitomi uneasy with his expression of doubt.

“Wh-what’s wrong,” Hitomi asked, suddenly feeling the same tension as Hibiki as she laid her gaze on the latter’s trembling hand on the scroll. “Are you all right?”

“H-how,” Hibiki managed to speak, his breath out of sync. He weaved a hand seal and a small cloud of white smoke puffed out. “I-it can’t be, but how?”

The smoked cleared out and revealed a body. But wasn’t Momura Rouzuke’s. It was a corpse of a man who worked for the Sound Village, judging from the forehead protector still bound to the man’s head. The other shinobi, like Kiba and Neji were also astounded with the new discovery. All of them had the same questioning expression, yet no one can give a concrete explanation.

Meanwhile in the Hidden Village of the Sand, Tsunade and Shizune dashed into the Kazekage himself, Gaara of the Desert. The two quickly relayed the situation to the latter, who immediately held a conference and called for another gathering of the Kage Summit. Tsunade and Shizune went back to their own village, getting ready for the approaching Kage Summit, only to hear that the enemy still lives.

A few more days passed and a figure clad with a straw hat decorated by long, white tassels, and a grey cloak walked through the desert. The sun burned as hot as it could, yet the figure appeared undaunted by the heat. Not even the incoming sandstorm could detract the figure from his destination, which was the Hidden Village of the Sand. The figure’s eyes beneath the straw hat burned red as he smirked.

“For the next weapon I’ll forge,” the figure whispered, voice being drowned by the surrounding howls of mixing sand and wind. “From where do the finest materials emerge?”
