Chapter 3: The Demon and the Nine-Tails
“Hey Naruto! Pull yourself together!” Kakashi began, as he noticed his comrade fall to his knees and proceeded to yell in pain. “Damn, the chakra in here must have a hand to this. Oy, Naruto!”
“Damn it! It hurts! AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!” Naruto continued to writhe in agony and grabbed his belly, as Rouzuke’s clones crept closer. “Make it stop!” At this, Rouzuke laughed with mockery overhead.
“This is my domain you dimwits decided to invade. Welcome to my Hell!” the voice thundered throughout the place. “My Swift Release: Flicker of Six Hundred and Sixty-Six Demons enables me to go beyond the Pure World, summon and wield the speed and power of six hundred and sixty-six demons. In this realm, I can sense your every move, learn from your techniques and use your weaknesses against you with my infinite number of clones. It does seem like you guys don’t give a damn about your other comrades’ lives. I have them captive, you know?”
Naruto flinched as he listened to the explanation. He didn’t catch all of the words, but understood enough to make a gist. Trembling, he tried to get up and weaved a seal for Shadow Replication. Rouzuke interrupted.
“It’s useless! Your chakra is being drained at this very moment. No matter what you do, you cannot leave this place alive, unless I let you,” the voice trailed off, but quickly returned. “So, what’s it gonna be? You’re making yourselves suffer by resisting, and I’m already giving you a choice to leave in exchange for my freedom.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Naruto retorted, still exhausted and in pain. “We will kick your ass and retrieve our comrades! Just you wait, I will definitely make you pay!”
“That’s enough, Naruto,” Kakashi interrupted, trying to assess their situation. They were given a choice, and their opponent does seem to be tough to handle, especially if they’re trapped in this realm. The best decision is to fall back and regroup, then hunt down the perpetrator. But Rouzuke cut him short.
“I can read your thoughts in this place, you bastard,” the voice said with rage. “I gave you a choice to save you and your comrades’ lives and you’re there thinking of trying to kill me again? So be it, I shall proceed to eliminate your comrades in here first, then I’ll get back to you.”
“Stop it! Don’t even lay a finger on any of them, or I will definitely kill you!” Naruto replied with the same tone of rage. His body started to pour out red chakra, which in turn formed into a chakra cloak on him. “Shit, I can feel the Nine Tails’ anger building up! Damn it!”
Kakashi looked at Naruto with apprehension in his eyes. It seemed that his thoughts were confirmed by their enemy.
“Ah, who would’ve thought I’d encounter a jinchūriki in my travels! What a discovery!” the voice started to express glee and exhilaration. “It seems that my realm has some sort of reaction with the tailed beasts, eh? So, how many tails will sprout from you, kid?”
Naruto couldn’t speak clearly now. The number of tails he grew so far already reached three. He turned to Kakashi with a meaningful expression, as if saying to get out of his way. Kakashi understood and leapt away from Naruto, with some of the clones starting to pursue Kakashi.
“You bastard! You will pay for this!” Naruto managed to yell out. “OOORRRRAAAAAA!!!”
One moment, he was bleeding, followed by a ball of black chakra surrounding him. With a sound wave from the blast, the clones were ripped to shreds, whereas Naruto appeared to have four tails sprouted, with a fifth starting to form. Rouzuke became more gleeful.
“Amazing! So this is the power of a jinchūriki. Boy, you are such a great entertainer! You have four tails? So, you are the Four Tails? No, wait. You’re still sprouting more tails, aren’t you?”
The four tailed Naruto just roared in anger as the fifth tail came to fruition, followed by a sixth tail, of which the former started to form bones. The opponent just became happier at the sight.
“Whoa, you’re at six tails already and you’re still not showing your true form! Come on, come on! Show me your full potential!”
The seventh tail started to grow, but Naruto seemed to have stopped. Then globules of chakra started to gather in a ball in front of him, of which he appeared to gulp down and pulled him down as if gravity became stronger. Rouzuke seemed to be disappointed at the sight of the seventh tail only half-formed.
“Aw, come on. Why’d you stop?” Rouzuke commented. He then looked worried at the sight of a fat six tailed Naruto. “Wait, what’re you trying to do? Hey, knock it -!”
It was too late. Naruto released a tailed beast wave in the voice’s general direction which was met with a deafening blast. The clones and the realm began to disappear. The smoke cleared, and the man, Neji, Kiba and Akamaru came into view. Even Kakashi was surprised as he was ready to attack the clones with his Lightning Release.
“Well, well. Your chakra disrupted my technique’s synchronization with the Pure World, such a feat is truly remarkable!” Rouzuke complimented. “You’re the first one to break out of this. I’m afraid that this fight had dragged too long.”
Naruto regained his consciousness and managed to suppress the Nine Tails’ chakra. He looked at the formidable foe with vengeance. His eyes averted from the man to his unconscious comrades.
“Oh, they’re alive. I don’t intend to kill in the first place,” Rouzuke explained, suddenly changing personality as he saw Naruto’s eyes dart towards the pile of bodies beside him. “I’ve surveyed this village, and I’ve found it unfit for my next masterpiece.”
Rouzuke’s body seemed to flicker, as if it was some sort of mirage. Naruto started, but Rouzuke interrupted him.
“I hope we meet under a more convenient and friendlier circumstance,” Rouzuke began. Kakashi attacked Rouzuke with his Lightning Release: Lightning Transmission, but missed. “It was a fun fight.”
And without further notice, Rouzuke’s body completely disappeared into thin air.
In some place near a mountainous region, another cloaked figure boiling a pot of water spoke, “Even the Leaf won’t cut it, huh? A pity I can’t use my full power in those circumstances. “
