Chapter 13: The Demon Sage?

The winds were howling as though trying to blow away the surface of the earth. Three figures have stood still near the entrance of Sunagakure. Not any of them was moving even if the sand was already hitting hard on their faces. They were in the midst of a harsh battle, and seemed that they were determined to continue it.

Saito Hibiki was already charging up his two Spiralling Spheres, which were expanding at an amazing rate. The Amaterasu flames were burning in the core of the spheres which made a distinct humming noise. A few moments have passed, and he disappeared without a trace from where he stood.

The next second, he was behind Momura Rouzuke again, who already knew where the enemy would push through. Hibiki met Rouzuke’s foot squarely on the abdomen, and was sent flying up in the air. But before Rouzuke can do any more damage, Gaara seized the brief assault and managed to trap the former’s feet with his sand.

Hibiki used his Swift Release yet again to land a hit on their enemy, who seemed to consider reactivating his Cursed Seal, as the black markings have started to gradually cover his skin again. But Hibiki was fast enough to teleport to Rouzuke’s backside and smash one of the Spiralling Spheres directly on the latter, pushing the opponent into a swirling sphere that blazed with the black flames.

SPIRALLING SPHERE! BOOM!

However, Hibiki’s assault wasn’t over. He let the sphere dissipate, revealing Rouzuke wounded all over, with the fire eating on the skin. The former went to the latter’s blind spot and slammed the second Spiralling Sphere straight to the head towards the ground, evidently crushing Rouzuke into the ground.

Gaara took advantage of the distraction to give both Temari and Kankuro the pills that Hibiki prescribed to them. Both recovered quickly enough and assessed the situation with care. The three thought of relinquishing their battle rights to Hibiki, who seemed to be more able than them all combined in fighting the perpetrator. Gaara wanted to disapprove of the idea but was left with no choice, as they, along with the rest of the Five Countries, were supposed to be readying for the upcoming war.

So far, they witness Hibiki burying Rouzuke’s body into the earth, as though determined to end everything once and for all. The other Spiralling Sphere became larger and wilder, with the humming sound becoming more high-pitched than normal. The ground was shaking and crumbling with the sheer weight and power of Hibiki’s technique, which seemed to be the last one for the day.

It wasn’t finished, however, as Rouzuke activated his Susano’o, which blew Hibiki’s Ultra-Big Spiralling Sphere out of the way. The latter was caught in the hands of the Susano’o, which the former planned to be the one to crush Hibiki into a bloody mush.

Hibiki was fast enough to have thought of teleporting to Rouzuke’s blind spot, and was wielding a Lightning Release technique that aimed for the opponent’s lungs. The Susano’o’s sudden change of forms averted the backstabbing by hammering Hibiki into the gravel with one of its arms that held a huge blunt weapon of some sort.

“Steel Release: Blades of Susano’o,” Rouzuke began, though he was already wheezing with every word spoken. “You can’t win against me, you puny prick!”

Again, Hibiki avoided damage by going back to the enemy’s behind, this time weaving seals for Shadow Replication. He made a dozen of clones that started to attack Rouzuke with their naginata, lunging, stabbing, slashing and throwing them at the latter.

Hibiki already noticed that Gaara and the others were already retreating, yet he knew he had to ask for assistance. He signalled to Gaara that he needed a bit of help, to which the Kazekage granted, and went quickly to Hibiki’s position.

“What is it?” Gaara asked urgently. “I can’t stick around here much longer, as the situation’s getting worse.”

“I need your sand spear,” Hibiki replied, sensing the urgency in Gaara’s voice. “With your sand manipulation, you can easily control and change the form of the spear into something that I can use to counter the criminal.”

The Kazekage glanced at the scene that was comprised of Rouzuke and his Susano’o trying to fend off Hibiki’s clones. Gaara looked back into Hibiki’s eyes and saw the sincerity of the request, making him unable to refuse to it. He immediately molded the sand into the Shukaku Spear and sent it flying to Hibiki, who wielded the weapon with ease.

“Thank you, Kazekage,” Hibiki declared, while pumping in more chakra into the spear, which increased the density and sharpness of its edges. “We shall end our foe with this!”

But Rouzuke already knew what they were aiming for and went in for the kill, the Susano’o raising two of its eight arms in an attempt to dice Hibiki. However, the latter quickly transferred onto the former’s back, the spear already locked on to the head. Gaara stood by, sand hovering around him for defence, while he started to manipulate the form of the Shukaku spear.

The spear elongated rapidly, its length approaching Rouzuke’s head in a few moments, though the Susano’o used two more of its arms at the back to parry the weapon, which Gaara made widespread as soon as the Susano’o weapons came in contact with the sand and halted its motion. Hibiki pulled from the sand a protrusion which was the handle of the spear that reformed into a large sword. He swung the blade to their foe’s neck yet missed by inches. Rouzuke’s punching reversal was Hibiki’s toll for the miscalculation, letting the latter slam onto the earth’s surface with a crash.

The sand that was halting the movement of two hands of the Susano’o spread slowly throughout the whole armor without Rouzuke noticing it. He deactivated the form and switched into the Cursed Form again, this time flying with his scaly wings, dashing to Gaara’s position. Rouzuke pulled on one of the handles visible on his back, which revealed his Dragon Sword.

The weapon reacted to the Cursed Seal chakra and took on its color and state, which was reinforced metal and dark silver. The gems on the sword began to glow red, and as Rouzuke raised it over his shoulder to strike, Hibiki managed to divert the assault by attacking with a Lightning Release that the former easily blocked with his just activated Susano’o ribcage armor. Gaara took the opportunity to bind Rouzuke into another Sand Coffin.

The criminal easily escaped the sand by expanding his Susano’o armor into its complete form, then after deactivating it, proceeded to hack and slash at Gaara, who was again defended by Hibiki with the variable Shukaku Spear that became a shield that was impenetrable. Gaara soon ran around Rouzuke and aimed sand shuriken on the latter’s blind spot, yet was diminished by the reactivated armor. Hibiki continued to lunge and slash with the spear while Gaara was still studying their opponent’s movements.

Rouzuke leapt out of danger’s reach and spun three hundred and sixty degrees in mid-air. He unravelled his wings and flew higher, out of the range of Gaara’s sand, though Hibiki was able to reach the man in the air because of the Swift Release. Despite the fact that Hibiki had the advantage of the element of surprise, Rouzuke’s eyes seem to follow the former’s attack patterns and was able to kick him senseless back to the ground.

Just as Hibiki met the earth and created a huge crater from the impact, Rouzuke returned his sword to his back, as if the skin engulfed the weapon. He closed his eyes and slammed his fists together and entwined his legs in an Indian sitting position as though he was meditating in the air.
Hibiki would barely pick himself up yet he saw how Rouzuke’s own chakra resonated with the chakra surrounding the air. Large amounts of the outer chakra were seeping into his skin and circulating in the entire body, especially in the limbs and the head. The chakra also appeared as turbulent as it neared the abdomen as well as the eyes.

“Shit,” Hibiki mumbled, apparently afraid of what might be coming. “That bastard can even do that? Is he a monster?”

Gaara and Hibiki were both perplexed at what they were seeing. Rouzuke’s dark silver skin seemed to form cracks that glowed with a sinister red color, as though it was blood running around the crevices that soon decorated the whole body of the owner. His face somehow melted, with some of the skin on the forehead sprouting, hardening and becoming two pointed black horns. The skin lining the lips and the mouth itself parted and revealed the metallic jaws lined up with numerous fangs that interconnected on the gums in a zigzag pattern. The eyelids were out of sight, making the illuminate reddish eyes seem rounder and larger than before. His nose submerged under the steel skin, leaving two small gaping holes for him to breathe with. Smaller horns appeared in an orderly manner on his lower jaw, nape, and until they surrounded the shoulders and neck. His elbows and knees lengthened and formed into smooth yet deadly slim silvery cones. The nails on both his fingers and toes became jagged and elongated, each sporting a gleaming clear small gem. The two handles that previously protruded from his back disappeared completely and merged with his body. His left forearm sprouted a gun muzzle and a blade portion of the Fang Blade, while his right protruded a part of the Dragon Sword. Finally, gems surfaced his body, giving the impression of a gem-made stick figure on his whole self, all of them shining grotesquely. His scaly dragon-like wings grew greenish claws on both ends. He smiled at the two and made their hairs on their back stand on end.

“Did you just shit your pants now,” Rouzuke taunted, while hovering above the two. “Or could it be that you think that your time has already waned?”
