First this is not my theory all the credit goes to original creator.enjoy!!!!

so with all the commotion of the new admirals fujitora and ryokugyu i've started to noticed a lot of patterns among the former generation of admirals and i'm making this thread to air out everything relating to the admirals - former and past.

To kick this off i'll start with the colour and animal name scheming of the admirals.

Akainu - red dog
kizaru - yellow monkey
aokiji - blue pheasant
fujitora - wisteria (purple) tiger
ryokugyu - green bull

so some people don't know the significance about their names so i'll explain the reason why all of them are named with a colour and an animal.

Animals - momotaro's legend is a japanese folklore that revolves around momotaro and his journeys to fight demons on oni island. En route to the island he met a dog, monkey and a pheasant. Oda has explicitly stated that he named the original three admirals off the dog, monkey and pheasant momotaro met along his journeys, he even adopted their personalities into akainu, kizaru and aokiji.

Colours - this is speculative~

as for the colours, i'm not really sure why oda chose red, yellow and blue although i assume it's because they are primary colours. Seeing as how we know that the 4th and 5th admirals are purple and green i think it's fair to assume that the 6th will be orange because this would complete the set of secondary colours - purple, green and orange granted this is just speculation on my part.

As for the tiger (fujitora) and the bull (ryokugyu) i read online that they were the 2 animals momotaro and his followers met at a temple which they stumbled upon during their journey. I don't know if this is an extension of the original ml (momotaro's legend) or not but there has been many different adaptations/variations of the story which i assume is where they come from.

One of the variants of the story from the shikoku and chugoku region say that momotaro also took a bee, crab, mill stone, a chestnut and cow dung, the last three being objects rather than animals. I was thinking that if later on down the line there were more admirals they could be named after the bee and the crab if oda decides to continue on with the tradition of naming them after the ml folklore of course. When i got to thinking about it there are only two marines i'm expecting to become admiral and some of you might agree, coby for one - it's his dream to become an admiral and we all know that coby will accomplish his goal. The second person i had in mind was smoker, they both represent what marines should be.

Both of these people represent the good in marines, the moral and the respectable, people that can see the difference between good and evil and can separate the two objectively whereas the current marines under akainu are more aggressive and ruthless, they are not true justice. After the eos war i can easily see coby and smoker rebuilding the marines to be what they are supposed to be rather than what they are now.

As for the colours i expect the next two to be would be orange (orenji in japanese) (this will complete the secondary colour set) and if i had to take a guess for the 7th it would either be light blue (mizuiro in japanese) or brown (buraun in japanese). I'm leaning more towards light blue considering it's the 7th colour in the rainbow whereas brown is not.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

momotaro's journey to oni island to fight the demons can be paralleled to the marines fighting pirates. All three animals show great disdain towards these demons and are willing to risk their lives to help momotaro vanquish them much like how the three admirals represent the marines in a way that their existence alone is feared among pirates. In addition to that, within the story there was a lot of bickering between the three animals as if they didn't like each other very much (mainly stemming from the dog).

Within the story, before the pheasant joined momotaro he got into a quarrel with the dog, this could possibly represent the fight for fa between aokiji and akainu. After the pheasant became a member of the group, momotaro told them to get along that the first one to start a fight will be discharged; ironically aokiji is the reason they fought over fa he wasn't willing to let akainu become fa that easily so he challenged him and thus left the marines after losing. (aokiji being recommended by sengoku, akainu being recommended by the higher ranks of the wg)

also, i should add that all three animals were fearful of crossing the sea to oni island, momotaro had to get a ship so they could cross the sea, it's ironic that all three admirals are df users unable to swim.

Just in case anyone's interested in momotaro's legend, you can read it here:

if you guys have any interesting or thought provoking ideas in regards to the admirals (past and present) whether it be related to their df or things alike feel free to use this thread for that as well. I essentially want this thread to be immersed with any and all talk about the admirals and i figured i'd start with their names, the most basic part about them.

my pleasure sis =D

Its just that this theory you founded focuses soo much on the myth itself but doesn't explain why Oda used this myth to his characters... and that fight between the pheasant and the dog they got involved in a group long before they quarreled.. that somehow causes a contradictory in your theory

Epic theory.
The colours relate to their personalities.
Orange = Coby. He will eat the Mera Mera no Mi ; Fujitora will take it and give it to Garp whom sees himself in Coby ( they share similar personality traits and justice).
Red = Magma
Yellow = Light
Blue = Ice
Purple = Gravity
Green = Nature? ( Moku Moku no Mi?)
Orange = FIRE

I think it makes more sense if Oda follows the theory of General Relativity (Light which is Kizaru, Gravity which is Fujitora & Time - which should be Ryokugyu) in relation to the theme of the (at time) Admirals. Why? Because the theme he followed Pre-TS was the theme of primary colors (Red=Akainu, Blue=Aokiji & Yellow=Kizaru).
