Not chakra. Spirit is another thing in NV which is seperate from chakra and lifeforce. Like Susanoo and King of hell of pain jigokudo. Spirit is imbued inside the swords, hence why they're called mystical blades. Mystical means spirit in naruto. That is why these swords can't be broken or damaged.

I guess that make sense for why the Nuibari has so much wire that comes from no where or why Kiba gives the user lighting release. if the swords was chakra based then there would some some form of strain on the user.
