Is it me has this war been a dissapointment?

Like it seems kinda boreing, noone has died yet but it seems that if they do now it gives the feel of its too late if you know what i mean.

And also the fact that were all of a sudden and the climax of the war but really the kage/mandara fight is well dissapointing as we havent seen enough of it, the naruto/tobi fight was actually great and the uchiha/kabuto fight is still developing but it just feels it wasent done right.

Please leave a comment with your thoughts :)

These aren't even the final battle. Naruto and Sasuke i predict will be the final battle. That will be when everyone has reached their Prime. It'll happen where it started . The kages and Madara battle is good and bad. I get to finally not hate Tsunade for being weak but the other kages are disappointing, Naruto and Tobi is great as you said cant wait to see what happens next, Itachi and Sasuke vs Kabuto it'll reach its climax a lot later , but so far i dont think much of it besides the fact that Kabuto's kinda OP with what he's done to himself, but Goodjob to itachi for being able to mark him.

I think Kishi's trying to please the fans by not killing off any of the Rookie Squad or just someone important from the good side. Personally, it would be a nice twist if the Zetsu that wasn't brutally murdered ran into Team 11/Rookie Squad, whatever their name is and spawned a sh-tload of Zetus and one or more held them off while someone else goes for the kill on the original.

(This is just my theory) Maybe when the Naruto vs Sasuke fight is about to happen Sakura makes sure Naruto is healed up and at his prime while Karin, (if she hasn't bitchslapped Sasuke into the 8th Great Shinobi War for stabbing her) healed up Sasuke. Tsunade has already proven she's pretty useful as much as I hate to admit it.

well its a little disapointing but if you think of it they mainly fought zetsus and there were maybe like 40 edo tensei they had to fight but i understand what you mean because pain killed like half of konoha but no ones died in this war yet

Tobi is the final boss, so I think Naruto VS Sasuke will happen, and after that Juubi and Tobi VS Sasuke and Naruto (and others Shinobi's)

I agree.
I also feel like there's a lot of out-of-the-blue throw-ins by Kishi. Take a look:

- Kinkaku and Ginkaku: Have never been mentioned before (except for the Kinkaku Force but even that's debatable). They appear out of nowhere, not even seen when Kabuto introduces who he resurrects. No history. No mention. No hint at all. But apparently, they're the most reviled criminals in the history of Kumo, said to possess weapons of the Sage. And speaking of that...

- Sage's Weapons: These "most-impressive" weapons came out of nowhere, too. They are meant to emphasize the Sage's power but instead, Kishi emphasizes Kin/Gin's powers  Why not just label them as "Kin/Gin's legendary weapons" then? What's the point of connecting them to the Sage? And when their battle is over, these weapons are never spoken of again :/ So much for Legendary Weapons then.

- Shisui's death: Okay, I don't mind him having the most powerful Genjutsu technique, because there were dozens of hints and lead-ons, starting from the Kage Summit arc. But his death is plain confusing and contradictory. There are three possibilities: suicide (as found by the Police Force), Itachi killed him (like he said), or he died peacefully to hide his existence (...like Itachi said again :|).

- Mangekyo Sharingan: Initially, we believed you would have to kill your best friend to gain MS. Then we found out you can gain it through losing a loved one. But now that Itachi denies killing Shisui, how the hell did he gain it?! :| And how did Shisui gain it then? It's so confusing.

- Kabuto's SM: This is like the biggest last-minute throw-in by Kishi. Out of nowhere! "I went to a cave, trained with a big-ass snake and gained Sage Mode." It's completely mind-boggling. I won't elaborate too much on this (I think I've said enough xd).

There's a lot of other stuff, too. Like the history surrounding Hanzo. Hashirama's random "OP-ness". Not too mention all that crap surrounding Madara, Tobi and Nagato :|

All in all, this war's fine concerning violence and action, but a lot of it doesn't make sense. And the tiny holes eventually lead to a big one. I just hope Kishi has explanations for it later.
Just my 2cents. If you're going to argue, don't bother xd

it would be awsome if kishi made a series for each mysteries and important character
hashirama and madar
1,2,3rd hokage history and story
jiraiya's adventurers
kakashi growing up
alittle chapters on itachi's life
danzo history
mostly deidera because he seemas to have a backstory
sasori same reason as deidera
kisame history well maybe not
7 swordman history all generations
some of the previous kages like muu
all akaski why they join why is kakuzu obsessed with mony
also the story of sage of six paths
everytime kishi gives backstorys they are great like minato and kisame

I don´t see how Sasuke vs Naruto is the final battle. This battle will be a turning point for Sasuke and then both of them can fight in the same side against the final villan.

I dont really mind the war but i admit some people should have died by now (Tsunade, onoki) lol :izuna:
-- I would've liked some emotionally valent (i.e. compelling) deaths as well on the alliance side as well, as I feel it would have made it more real to me if done right. I wonder why there haven't been any considering how there were at least 1-2 (Kakashi, Hinata's apparent death to Naruto, Tsunade in a coma) when Nagato doomsday on Konoha, lol. xd He even took out Kakashi; however, then Kishi undid most of that with Rinne Tensei, so it was like no one actually died after all, but at least for the moment (several chapters), it was heavy, and I can still picture Kakashi slumped over in the rubble, head hanging down dripping blood, dead... As well, him meeting up Sakumo, his father, at the camp fire was epic, given the way he lost him and how it shaped him as a shinobi.

-- I like good plot and appropriate emotion personally as the most important component in Naruto over action because Kishi can create good action so easily.
Creating good plot and emotion aren't anywhere near as easy to a wide and diverse audience. You can't simply kill off people constantly, as people then just adapt to it, and it loses it's power; however, a few significant people can die after doing something epic while fulfilling their own will of fire (or their village's equivalent - recall Onooki's flashback and that stone for his country's version). Granted Samui and one other got sealed by the KinGin brothers, but they were so insignificant (new to the manga and the reader had little attachment) that who really cared (besides Darui, lol). Further, it was done so cheesy via the Rikudou Sennin's tools (i.e. them stating their most used word after being hit by the whip and the blade with the most used word), which further detracted from the significance of their loss. Further, Yamato was kidnapped and integrated into the Gedo Mazo to strengthen the Zetsu's, so there's the possibility that he could be rescued. Further, I don't know what's up with Anko and if she can be saved, and if she'll lose her curse mark graciously if so. Thus, the alliance has had losses, specifically the Cloud and the Leaf with significant characters but they were taken away very quickly and not built up.

-- I guess if a character is going to die they should fulfill certain requirements (not necessarily these).
I have a few in mind based on the deaths of major characters (e.g. Hiruzen, Asuma, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Nagato, Itachi, Kisame, Minato/Kushina, Konan, Hinata apparently, some ET's...) First, they should have enough of a backstory in place that we know them enough that their loss creates an absence, whereas with Samui's absence we kept moving, lol. I think all the 5 Kages have gotten to this point except for Mei, who has yet to have a flashback. Second, I think it needs to come in a major battle. This one is easy to resolve now as all there are left are major battles given the main antagonists (Tobi, Kabuto, ET Madara, EMS Sasuke). Third, I think there has to be a will of fire type of sacrifice performed that leads to the death. For example, Onooki tanking those two meteorites and almost dying was pretty impressive, but he didn't have the backstory yet and he wasn't engaged in a major battle but the precursor to one, so he lived and was healed by Tsunade. Fourth, I guess their death should lead to some sort of catharsis and change in emotion of those living.

-- I think that Onooki is an excellent candidate to die according to the 4 guidelines I gave above.
However, I don't see any of the 5 Kage dying before ET Madara is defeated, at best approximately at the same time. Onooki's chakra/stamina is low enough that he's struggling to pull out dust release moves. He has significant backstory starting with his verbal scrum with Gaara at the Kage Summit. Fighting ET Madara together with the other 4 Kage is unprecedented, so it's clearly a major battle. He's already demonstrated "will of fire" type sacrifices, which have put him in his current position. Further, he's gone from being "the fence-sitter" to a believer in the alliance and goodness of people via Naruto and Gaara amongst others. Thus, his death would be leading to a catharsis and resolution (fourth condition) if he realizes that Gaara himself is the new generation, and one of hope that he can believe in, which he seems to have been displaying during the war. Tsunade, however, has issues of succession to the Hokage with Naruto/Kakashi that complicate her death, so I favor Onooki. Further, her self-healing is off the charts, so I don't think she'll go down even if she significantly shortens her lifespan, which is naturally extra-long due to partial (1/4 min via Mito) Uzumaki lineage.

Peace :)

I can see Naruto and Sasuke fighting tobi but after that why wouldnt he want to kill Naruto? He thinks so low of Naruto and before he encountered Itachi his new goal was to kill Naruto. Doesn't even think he's a true ninja stuff like that.

Have never been mentioned before
why would they be? no one would bother talking about them because the cloud see them as an era theyd like to forget. they had no reason to mention them besides perhaps the cloud recognising the power of naruto's kyuubi. even then, no one is alive to do so. the last man to go head to head with them who was of any relevance was tobirama.
