We all know that Madara was rocking that Scythe back in the day. He was slashing up hashirama up pretty good! Thanks to Hashirama's godly healing power, he never drop dead. But there is a limit to how many time the body can regenerate itself.

A body's cells can only split a certain number of times in a lifetime, and by speeding up this process, users of this technique are basically shortening their natural lifespan. This is hayflick limit. So Hashirama probably gotten weaker in old age and finally turned into a damn tree.

I wouldn't be surprise about Karin uzumaki being the same way. All that bite marks on her.

It's not confirmed that, Hashirama's healing power were subjected to the backtracks of Tsunades healing abilities.

We honestly don't know the mechanics behind his healing abilities, unless there's scans I've missed.

This. There's no telling if he could regenerate organs and bones to a new state like Tsunade can. He only had healing and no Hashiramas was stomped by someone. He's Ashura with extreme life force. He didn't die from a damn illness, he fell in battle.

Exactly. Its hard to believe some one person bested him alone but he could have been ganged by the other Gokage and if they were all even half his level, he'd still lose to all 4.

I can't believe people are saying he died to some shit illness. His life force is way too strong for that. He's been dead almost a century and his cells still grant people unbelievable endurance, stamina, and power. His cells cultivated an army of 100k Zetsu and was so strong he could resist Edo Tensei. No effing way did he die from being sick.

Madara would have hypothetically surpassed Hashirama when he integrated Hashirama's DNA within him. He is the most logical candidate to be responsible directly or indirectly.
