thats why in gaiden he could activate his original sage mode, or else it should only be rikudou sage mode all the time since it would be mixing sage mode + rikudou chakra.

Yes and how does Sasuke's possession over the Rinnegan conclude that Sasuke has to use Rikudou's chakra in his Ninjutsu? Fact is, it doesn't, it only means his Rinnegan contains Rikudou's chakra and all Rinnegan techniques thrive off of that chakra.

No, he activated his original Sage Mode because he merged Natural Energy with his Natural Reserves. Rikudou Senjutsu is entirely different as it's comprised of Senjutsu + Rikudou's Chakra as opposed to his own reserves. Without Rikudou Senjutsu, he's only left with Rikudou's chakra which deduces that it's an accessible source of chakra even in base form.

He uses both his normal chakra and Rikudou's chakra, hence why they're capable of performing such stupendous feats in their base form. I'm baffled as to why Naruto wouldn't even use Rikudou's chakra given that it's a part of his normal reserves.

If Naruto doesn't use Rikudou's chakra in his base form, then Sasuke doesn't either. Your misconception revolves around RSM being a determinant for Rikudou chakra's usage even when that's simply not the case. RSM is Rikudou + Senjutsu whereas Rikudou's chakra is Rikudou's chakra in its purest form, something that is still accessible in his natural state.

I never said he can't use Rikudou chakra in base mode if he chooses to. But no he doesn't use it all the time and definitely won't on fodder ninjas.

And where's the proof that he can only throw an FRS when using Rikudou chakra or SM. As I remember BM Naruto was also able to throw it. Even during war arc in RSM mode he used FRS and other variations of it and they were not yellow/orange. So just cuz its yellow in color doesn't mean he's using rikudou chakra. In the manga his default chakra color is yellow/orange and maybe SP decided to go with that.
