Thanks to Danzo, we got to see Izanagi.

I mean, otherwise, everyone would have said Izanagi as an a**-pull similar to what Izanami is facing currently.
Most of the people says that Izanami used by Itachi was an a**-pull.
Just because it was shown only once and at a proper place where it has to be used, you call it an A$$-PULL no Jutsu?!!
Similarly, if Izanagi were used ONLY during Obito vs Konan, it could have been tagged as the same A$$-PULL no Jutsu.
In a better plot, Izanagi was needed to be used multiple times compared to Izanami and that is what the manga provided Because Izanagi is the Villain and Izanami is the Hero (of the Uchihas)​

Its not the legitamacy of the jutsu that is the problem, since Izanagi was shown people figured Izanami would eventually appear since they are a pair in japanese mythology. The problem is the setting it was in. For the jutsu to work Kishi had to do the following:

• Change Kabuto's character from calculating analytical type to a brawler that just throw jutsu after jutsu because he thinks he is all powerful
• Make sure that Kabuto doesn't bring any Edo's since they would continue fighting even if Kabuto was caught
• Make it that Itachi was an Edo tensei since Izanami can't be used properly in battle, but since Itachi could die multiple times that condition doesn't matter
• Make it that something designed specifically as a counter for Izanagi and izanagi only just randomly works on someone that doesn't 'know' themselves
• Make it a visual genjutsu that for whatever reason doesn't affect sight

There was a lot of things that needed to be pre-aligned for that specific jutsu to work and even then its still iffy. I realise and accept that edo tensei had to be stopped for plot purposes but the way it was done did make it too convenient and thus seem like an ass-pull.

Whilst this may be true on many accounts, you still have to admit the jutsu is a tad flawed. How is it that something design specifically and solely as a means of countering izanagi can randomly work on someone that is 'lost'. It was even stated by Itachi that it can't be used in proper combat, suggesting it has little use outside of the izanagi counter.

Besides why is it that Itachi decides who is and who isn't 'lost'. Kabuto expressed that he had finally found himself and a purpose. The only reason his opinion wasn't validated was that Kishi needed the jutsu to work for plot reasons - hence Itachi disagreed and Kabuto was deemed 'lost'.

It wasn't created for people who don't know their true selves per se, but also for those who abused their ocular powers. If people looked properly into the mythology behind this, they would have see Izanami coming like a deer caught in the headlights, and they would have known what it entails. It's the lack of insight or fanboyism that causes this "asspull" word to be thrown around.
