Tenten would make a Great Female Main Character

Honestly, if there's just one change I could make to the Naruto manga in terms of the good guys, it'd be that Kishimoto had made Tenten part of Team 7. This may sound silly and Tenten gets a lot of unneeded crap on this forum and her lack of development is definitely disappointing but what you don't know is...Tenten as a character is actually pretty awesome.

Tenten from what we see of her in part 1 and Naruto SD actually is a lovely character who doesn't need to be dependant on a boy crush, is a weapon expert,has the best design, has lots of potential, has a strong female role model she aspires to and doesn't have that many feminine attributes. The breakup of Team 7 doesn't have to be some romantic love triangle, it can still just have as much impact if Sasuke leaves the village away from a team and a girl who respects him. Tenten could've been a great choice for main female protaganist...to be simple, Tenten is kind of awesome.

I know right, that was unjustified. Probably Chatte. And yeah that's true as it is Kishi and he knows he's not great with female characters but I honestly believe it would've worked. We would've had a hell of an interesting main character in my opinion but yeah, if Kishimoto has a story to tell with these characters then of course i'll let him tell it. It could've just been so much better.

I don't see how Kishi will do better with her either.

Naruto gets kcm and bm and they look epic.
Sakura gets war gear.

I don't even like Tenten's fighting style it's too limited

The manga doesn't need an awkward love triangle based on people being dismissive to each other. The three members could've had a relationship of respect for each other. Tenten would obviously got powerups and advancements, anything from a summoning in the style of Temari's weasel, or sensory or medical jutsu. There's a lot of weapons in the world and thus a lot of room for improvement. It's more to go on than holding a kunai.

Mei and Konan are nice they obviously couldn't be in team 7 ;D

Didnt Tenten just get a sacred sage weapon? Shes a bad ass. All the characters are bad ass in their own way. I appreciate all of them in one way or another... Except that Joto kid that kept screaming a few fillers back. God I hated all the noise he made. Loudest shinobi in the entire series.

I think Tsunade is a pretty well-developed character, that's about it.

OT: I concur, Tenten combined with Naruto SD and pt 1 gave her alot of potential to be a good character. Easy! There are SO many weapons in the world and to have her be an expert in them all would make her unique in the Narutoverse and also interesting to watch. Her fighting style could change every arc and eventually she'd gain items like the Banana fan and then watching her be able to control it. She could steal the weapon of enemies she defeats like Suigetsu and Killer Bee did.

Ikr it doesn't need all that love crap.
It's just that Kishi wouldn't have done anything different because he just loves to do the love triangle thingy.
He probably would make the main heroine the same as Sakura.
I just think he should've paid more attention to the female character rather than his male characters so it would be more epicU_U

So this! The way Sakura started acting after the rooftop fight seemed to come out of nowhere but is when I started to get interested. The whole of Team 7 needed more time to bond like they did in the Forest of Death which is why I always watch the Shippuden filler of Team 7 because it adds more to their underdeveloped story.

Glad we can be okay on this, Sakura fans normally get mad quite quick. It's not even that against Sakura as a character- I just think someone a bit more sturdy could be interesting too. It'd be a very different manga, that's for sure.

She only seems awesome because Kishi never gave her the time of day. If he actually did, he would have turned her into a Sakura. No questions asked. Kishi is actually quite happy with Sakura's character throughout this story and finds her "real" according to his interviews.

The love triangle would have existed regardless. The sheer number of one sided love stories in this series is staggering. And she does have feminine attributes. She was fangirling over Sasuke when she was first introduced. "He's really handsome"... Nah.

In short, Kishi is a sexist individual and would have dismantled Tenten just as much as he's done his other female characters. But yes, she is awesome. I do like the fact that Kishi kept her fundamentals in tact (mostly because he ignored her for so long). But if he did pay attention to her... Oh lordy lord.
