Tenten, why?

I dont understand the Tenten character.
What is the point of her?

At the start of the series, she was being hailed as this super accuracy Kunoichi with ninja tools.
Her abilities seemed to be at a good enough lvl back than, to compete with the rest of the konoha kids.Tenten had something that the other konoha kids didnt have and ninja tools were something to fear back than. She lost to Temari though. That was kinda a counter setup.

Itachi looks more impressive in terms of ninja tool accuracy, so Tenten isnt even the best at that.
She passed out by using the sage tool fan. Her only jutsus shown are throwing ninja tools out of scrolls. Never shown any defence ability or anything special.

What does Kishi want to do with Tenten?
She isnt becomming like her idol Tsunade and she is not on her lvl.
Was she the only one of the konoha group that didnt do something cool with the Naruto chakra cloak?

I want to clear up that this is no character bash at all.
I really wonder, what is the purpose of the Tenten character?

Sai, Sakura, Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Lee, Neji(dead), they all seem to bring something useful to the story. You can see this, even if you dont like every single one of them.

Tenten has no real story. We dont know much if anything about her. No special clan.
It is just a girl who throws ninja tools from scrolls and that is about it (is my impression).
No special personality either. Her outfits looked cool though.

All the other konoha 11 members seem to get attention from Kishi.

Can anyone explain to me what Tenten brings to the story?

Tenten is the character to encourage Lee, fight, and whatnot. And her dream is to become a Sanin like Tsunade and Tsunade her idol so she'll become a sanin by plot

I have wondered the same thing . Accuracy with ninja tools is nothing special . Every freaking shinobi in the war was good with it ( not including actual fodders). She doesnt have anything special about her . So i agree with you her character is in a sense pointless

Kishi cares so little about Tenten [story wise] He gave her nothing but a mere panel after Neji's death, and she was the ONLY K11 girl who didn't do anything with her Kyuubi cloak.

I honestly feel like Kishimoto screwed team Gai & Kurenai over REALLY bad; Kurenai gets pregnant, Husband died; Who's there for her? Not her students [Hinata, Kiba, Shino], but Shikamaru. Like...what? WHY?

Neji died? Lee cries, kicks Madara, than disappears into the background again; Tenten only says "lee" and Gai seems to not even care. Not to mention Team gai [And Neji] Had like 3 appearances together throughout part 2 [Kazekage Rescue arc, Pain arc, and Neji's death]

But honest to god, the only thing i can remember from her in Part 1 is being solo'd by Temari

Exactly. Dunno what kind of upgrade she can be given though and it might be to late for that (story wise). FTG would make her strong =D, but that is not gonna happen and wouldnt really fit I think. Maybe the turtle summon for a defence. Would make her a bit more interesting. Being able to open like 2 gates or so wouldnt be a bad addition either. Being able to fuse her element with ninja tools would be interesting too.

There I just gave her interesting upgrades to make the character on par with the rest of the konoha 11.

She was the only girl in the k11 who was not sucking up to a male or fangirling and stuttering alsoshe had a real goal.

That was a sage's damn fan of course it would consume the shit out of chakra.

We saw her with her team in kazekage rescue arc she did well while working with her teammates and defeated her clone she won a fight in a way.

She was helping Lee cheating in the chuunin exams also helped Neji for developing kaiten.

She did not do much but she did not have much paneltime and compared to her paneltime; she was fine. Also Neji and Lee needed a teammate the spot should not have been left blank. Also Lee and Neji had the most beckground and story out of k11 excluding Naruto in part 1; not to mention Gai had more relationship to Kakashi than other senseis; she could be left behind for not taking team Gai forward and making things unbalanced. But Kishi already forgot the shit out of team Gai students in part 2 sadly.

I find it kinda weird actually; Lee & Neji [at least in part 1 :devil:] Were pretty big characters & Gai has been pretty important during this war, but then Tenten is just there....
