Just a thought... What if the ten tails was actually a person? A man with immense chakra that sought to destroy the world. And the Ten tails was actually just a transformation of the man.
I think the so6p battle a man/ juubi and seperated that man and the juubi from one another. Splitting it into 9 other tailed beast, and the 10 and last one, is the man that is nothing more then an incomplete version of his former self, sound familiar?
Maybe that is why tobi said the rinnegan was orignally his in the first place when speaking to konan, because IF my theory is right, then the rinnegan originated from tobi/ten tails.
How he is able to summon that statue, beats me, what that statue is, beats me, thats the only loop hole in my theory, Might be able to fill it when more chapters come out.
I look at it as, how did the Sage know that he can become the jinchuriki? I think he was battling someone that had control of the ten tails...or maybe was the ten tails, too many questions!
We will see in a few chapters if there is any truth in my theory
