I believe the statues are mostly just mythical reference and decoration rather than plot devices, but there is a statue of an asura and buddha here as well.

Yeah , and I believe the Ashura is representing Yang(Hagoromo's brother) , the buddha is representing Yin (Hagoromo).

If you look at Indra's statue and Ashura's statue , you'll see that they are mixes of the Yin statue and the Yang statue.

I see physical similarities between him and Susano'o , but can you make a link between Sojobo and Uchiha abilities other than that?

The left statue is an ashura, yet it is demonic and bears the four eyes of the EMS demon shown behind Madara and Itachi, as well as resembles Kaguya, Kimimaro, the shinigami and Indra's forehead markings. Its also bears a trident while still maintaining the asura form and name like Ashura himself and his avatar. Asura's also represent battle and vengeance.

The right statue is a buddha like Hashirama's thousand hand technique rather than a tengu, yet represents yin, resembles Sasuke's statue and has the third eye and halo. Buddhas also represent the six realms of reincarnation and enlightenment.

Lol Kishimoto and his parallelism is a mind bender at times.

The left statue is a Shintoist Ashura , from Japan.
The right statue is a Buddhist Buddha , from China.

Don't you think that the theme of the manga is the syncretism Shinto-Buddhist that happened 150 years ago in Japan?

I was just reading the manga again and I found something curious. Since it was mentioned when Hidan and Kakuzu went to a said "no ordinary" temple, The Temple of Fire, I would like to know more about it. Specially because this temple had the PERFECT SUSANOO formation as their god. lol

About the statue to the right in the first image, it looks like another Susanoo form OR like Hashirama technique, the one he used to fight against Madara's Susanoo.


Plus, the "theurgical enlightenment" technique is something close to that old guy from Hunter x Hunter and is also similar to Hashirama ultimate technique.
