Asuma, well...did not pay much attention to him.The sarutobi have close ties to the naara, akimichi, and yamanaka clans, it would be a stretch to say this is as a result of senju descent but it is possible.
If the techs used by these clans are the ones used by the senju then you can begin to understand the universal fear that the senju instilled in the hearts of other shinobi.
A clan of akimichi, lets say 20 giants vs a perfect susanoo, I'm not saying the susanoo would lose but that battle would shake the earth.
