Am I the only one who cries pathetically while watching this show? I'm not even a sensitive person, I don't cry very often, especially over fictional characters but I remember being 6 or 7 and watching The Land of Waves Arc during the marathon on Cartoon Network and I bawled my eyes out when Haku and Zabuza died. It's been my favourite shonen anime since, that arc is what really got me hooked and almost a decade later I still cry over this damn series. Usually for a good 20 minutes too, and it's something I really like about Naruto, it sort of connects with you. I can't relate to it in most aspects but the messages that are portrayed really make you feel like you understand the characters and how they think and their reactions to the situations around them.

Well..Danzo is special. I felt sorry for him when he tried to run away and Sasuke chased him slowly like a horrormovie murderer.

I don't cry but felt very sad everytime. Often do you see anime/manga,oh!**** it,you never see an anime/manga which affects it's fans to such a degree where they can even suicide if their fav. dies, unless that manga is NARUTO.

I agree, I do feel for him in a way. Although I don't like how he went about it, he really did just want to protect the village.

His methods are strange but effective tho.

what good his methods have done?

Danzo did many things behind the scenes to protect the village.

Let me give you an example.

The military works mainly behind the scenes, we don't want our enemys to know what we are capable of.

Danzo did the same. He worked and protected the village behind the scenes.

but whatever he did was wrong he take shisui eye so the whole uchiha clan died, itachi, naruto, sasuke suffered, yahiko died and many shinobi in leaf village died during pein arc but thanks to naruto everything is all right even kabuto became like this because of danzo

Because of the well developed characters, even down to flaws and idiocyncracies, there is the possibility of investment and attachment on the part of the reader/viewer. I think this is why there is a no character bashing rule... it becomes an emotional thing with some folks.

I was hoping for a nicely written scene to make folks bawl at Might Gai's death scene, but the criminal act of Naruto denying Gai the sacrifice he volunteered to take instead took place. Gai's chance as a near 40 year old man to make a stand and be the paragon of eternal youth as per his ninja way and personal philosophy was instead stolen from him. Now Gai will die an old man, and have to let go of the religious furvor toward embracing eternal youth as a lifestyle; clearly after this war is over thre will be no threats would require him to make such a sacrifice and he will have to face growing old and decaying.

Naruto took something precious from Gai. Something meaningful. Gai's entire ninja way summed up in a single burst of glory. And Naruto just gets to unilaterally decide his ninja way of not letting any friends die trumps Gai's ninja way of eternal youth. A great writing opportunity was wasted, and a travesty took its place.

This^^
Gai's leg is incinerated. I'd be surprised if he's ever able to fight again, and if he can his level will be far below what it was. I was so disappointed.

I know exactly what you mean and I really felt sad or cried on the really traumatic parts like jiraiya death, kakashi death, itachi death, sage frog death etc
