I suggest you to follow your same logic
Itachi's fighting style is suited for 1vs1 configuration. He is fighting many opponents here
1- Itachi is definitely not defeating Asuma in a direct close range combat without diversions, said Asuma who was capable to handle Kisame in close combat without too much problems even forcing him to use ninjutsu instead. CQC is Asuma's speciality
2- Itachi tries genjutsu on one while some others would be attacking him from behind or other sides, when some would be staying backwards. If he gets hit, it breaks the genjutsu, even if not, the ones who stayed backwards could easily free the one affected by genjutsu and thus making the genjutsu strategy worthless
3- Tsukuyomi is close range, so would need to close the range in order to affect someone, which is dangerous considering my kage mane strategy. And even if he manages to, the fatigue due to the strain of the technique leaves him open for an attack coming from the one who are supposed to be behind him or in other sides
4- Amaterasu requires prep for him as well due to his limited stamina. It leaves him open for an attack coming from the ones who are supposed to be behind him or in other sides during the fight
5- Throws kunais on people who can move on their own and not immobile targets so easily dodged
6- And i didn't even mention BM Choji in this scenario that practically nothing in Itachi's arsenal could put down in this scenario, or at least not that easily
What else would he do? He would be overwhelmed and defeated in the end. It's exactly what you were saying. Itachi isn't fighting stationary objects
1. Not sure how you would think Asuma > Itachi in a 1v1 fight. Itachi = Uchiha = sharingan = 1v1 specialty.
2. Itachi's tsukuyomi is almost instant. He cast it on Kakashi and held him for 72 hours, while in the real world it took only what ? 1 second?
3. What fatigue? He wasn't fatigued after using it on Kakashi 72 hours straight.
4. Limited stamina? Have you seen his fight vs Sasuke? AFTER using tsukuyomi, he pretty much amaterasu'd the surroundings. It's more than enough to handle 5-6 guys. And Sasuke was arguably faster than anyone in team Asuma.
5. ...
6. What about genjutsu, amaterasu, KA?
