Hello everyone,
Since a couple of years there's being a debate on "who" should be named Queen of Rock (once an for all). Although there are so many female singers, the fans as well as the specialist(critics, musicologists, etc) have "more or less" agreed on the following 3:
Tarja Turunen, the Finish rock soprano also Known as the "Godess of Metal". Former lead vocalist of Nightwish who've been developing a soloist career since she was fired from the Finish rock band in 2005.
Amy Lee, the lead vocalist of the American gothic band Evenescence.
Anette Olzon, the Swedish singer who've been the new lead vocalist of Nightwish since 2006 (Officially 2007 when they released "Dark Passion Play").
Now, lets disscus some of their strongest and weakest points, shall we?
Lets begin with Tarja Turunen.
Pros:
Undoubtedly, Tarja has the strongest vocal technique that we've listened to so far in the "Rock World", firstly because of her clasical training at the Sibelius Conservatory of Finland and her many degrees and diplomas from many prestigious Conservatories on Berlin (Not to mention her beautiful natural voice).
She has proved to be as great on CDs or videos as on live concerts since she has almost "never" got out of tune nor made what we call "vocal accidents".
Her solid preparation makes her strong on the stage, being able to show a whole range of dinamics and a huge and I mean HUGE register from mid-low up to VERY high (HIGH) notes.
Cores:
For some, her moves on the stage are ridiculous whenever she tries to dance. For others, she seems too cold while performing. In addition, many people believe (and i'll keep the format of their quotes) that "she doesn't give a f*ck about fans. Also, since she does many classical works in her "free time" , some people claim that it deviates what they call the "rock star eccentricity" from her.

Tarja Turunen- Wishmaster (live)
Amy Lee
Pros:
She has a very strong voice with a unique brilliant tone. Most people love her craziness on the stage. She never acts like a "Diva" but as a normal person. Also, contrasting with Tarja, she loves her fans and theres no question about it. She has a very good vocal register from lows to mid-high notes.
Cores:
Specialists argue that her music is influenced by jazz. At live concerts she fails some notes and get out of tune from time to time. Also, her vocal training fails sometimes on endurance and as a result she loses sound or "power" in the middle of some concerts.
Amy Lee- Lithium (Live)
Amy Lee- What you want(official)
Finally, Anette Olzon.
Pros:
Anette has a very particular and distinctive colorful voice. She has a good preparation and background. She knows how to move on the stage and dancing is one of her bests. Like Amy, Anette is quite a normal girl. Also, she interacts with the audience on a very warm way and her fans love her naturality.
Cores:
Although Anette possesses a strong voice her register isn't quite extensive. Many people claim that her tone makes Nightwish sound way "pop". In some concerts she has not been able to perform the "old" Nightwish songs written for being performed by Tarja in its entirety, making some arrangements to make them easier to afford.
