Would you still call it "tanking" if someone does receive hardly any damage, but is knocked out?
No, tanking means you stayed up on your feets in the same or similar position as you were, before the attack, which means it had no effect on you.

Tanking IMO means they were barely effected.

For a newer example, would probably .

He got kicked, yes, but he recovered so quickly that the attack looked useless.

You can still sustain damage and it's considered "tanking," you just have to not die or be eradicated.

He surely felt pain as we can see on the 1st scan and was sent flying away, so I wouldn't consider it tanking. Recovering quickly is another thing. He got clearly hit and did not tank it, since it stopped him from whatever he was doing there.

Well tanking is relative imo. If an attack fails to do what the attack was supposed to do to the target then I'd say the target has tanked it.
For example:
In this case Hinata's air palm was supposed to take out the target. And it successfully did. The target completely failed to tank the attack as usual.

While here the opponent clearly tanked the attack effortlessly.

so kakashi tanked tsukuyomi then?

i mean he was alive after the fact.

OT: tanking usually mean the attack did no damage or failed to do its purpose. The third raikage didn't tank 1 finger nukite since the spear still went clean through his chest. However the 4th raikage did tank chidori sonse it only went 1 inch deep doing little to no damage.

For like three seconds before collapsing. Itachi said that a sharingan can provide limited resistance but Uchiha kekkai genkai can break it.

The Tsukuyomi casted was psychological damage, not really a physical one.

He didn't die, he wasn't eradicated.

Now im not saying kakashi tanked it cuz that shit put him in an indefinite coma. But based on your definition things are lookin kinda spooky.

Well that's why I said for like three seconds. Not dying or eradicated is from a physical standpoint, not a enterly a mental one.

Can a Tsukuyomi eradicate someone?

No, it doesn't. Itachi gave kakashi praise for surviving before collapsing because his sharingan prevented him from immediate death. Now after he collapse he was fading fast and he would've died if he did not get saved.

That's why I think there are two versions of tanking in these kind of scenarios:

I. Where you take a hit and you literally don't budge
II. Where you take the hit, you get hit and move back, but you recover almost instantaneously.

The guy wasn't aware of him coming, so it makes sense why he was surprise attacked, but I don't think the same move would bother him w/o the surprise, based on how quickly he responded.
