Chapter 3: New Feeling
I woke up in the middle of the night feeling parched and disgusted. Kumai apparently doesn't know how to keep her room clean so I had to skip over piles of clothing just to get out of the room.
I was at the entrance of the hallway, dizzy from lack of sleep. But, I continued along the wall.
Once I found the steps I was completely awake and found my way to the kitchen.
Since it was dark, I patted around the cabinet in order to find where they keep the cups, but instead... There was nothing. All their cups were in the sink.
I sighed.
Well... I am thirsty.
I stuck my head under the faucet and turned the knob. As the water fell into my mouth, I finally felt satisfaction... But then the lights turned on.
I moved my head from under the water to find my mother staring at me. I cleared my throat and looked at her.
"Um.. Hi mom" I said.
"W-what the heck..." She said in shock.
"Okay" I said while feeling embarrassed. "I know this is awkward... But they have no clean cups, and I was thirsty, and this was the first thing I thought of so..."
"Okay, Okay. Soraya, calm down. I understand what was going on"
Phew...
I wiped my face off while we stared at each other blankly.
"So. Are you nervous about finally getting your headband tomorrow?" My mother asked.
"Not really" I replied.
"Oh, okay. I just thought that all those people staring at you, and the pressure of what team you'll be assigned to would scare you"
Well... Gosh.
"Well, I wasn't scared before... But now I am"
"Oh! I'm sorry"
"Don't worry about it. So what was it like when you first got your headband"
She sighed.
"Well, like I said it as pretty nerve wrecking. I felt like crying the whole time because I didn't think I was going to be assigned to a team. But, I was assigned to squad 11. After that, I felt a little bit more confident" She looked up, then continued. "After that I had great experiences like training to become a medic ninja, and aspiring to become Hokage's aid"
"Well, how come your aren't now" I asked.
"Well, I failed at becoming a medic, and then I fell in love with your father before I began training to become the aid. After that, I had your sister and I had to slow down"
"Oh..." I said.
"And now... Your sister is missing, Haru is dead, your growing up fast. Before I know it, you'll be a squad leader and I'll be a raisin in the sun"
"Mom, don't think that way" I said while grabbing her shoulders, "We'll find Takami and we'll be happy again"
She looked down, and I hugged her tightly.
We'll definitely find her. I know we will
"Maybe we should go to bed, it's getting late and you have a big day tomorrow" She said while struggling to keep her tears in.
"I know" I said while walking up the stairs, "Goodnight"
"Goodnight"
