Don't deny the Manga, firstly he was off panel meaning that we wouldn't have seen when he made the hand seals and it is a requirement to form the barrier. ​

You are correct but he did it so quickly as well as scattered kunai around the battlefield. With the Kurama TBB he had time to sit there and take his time, but the recent issue shows us that the prep time from back then was just him waiting on the TBB to reach him. It happened so quickly nobody but Naruto knew what was going on and that is only because he sensed him before that. That STB setup and execution is all Minato, however the infinite chakra Edo provides explains how he was able to deal with a TBB of that size.

Also, eye contact depends on the opponent as well. Unless you can force your opponent to look in your eyes.

OT: Using STB to block genjutsu is ridiculous. FTG or shunshin are far superior in dealing with genjutsu.
