As we all know, there is a lot of symbolism in the Naruto series.
Now, when someone uses Mangekyoo Sharingan, their eyes bleed and overuse leads to blindness. What does this symbolize? or is it just plot?

Eyes that are injured or closed, suggests refusal to see the truth about something or the avoidance of intimacy. It may be expressing feelings of hurt or pain.

That's the symbol of the bleeding eyes and overuse to blindness. Sasuke is refusing to see the truth that what he is doing is not what is right and he is avoiding any relationships with Konoha. It also shows his pain.

I believe that the blood is meant to symbolizes the washing of the eyes of Izanagi symbolsing the brith of Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu.

The nose of Susanoo is meant to symbolise the the washing of the nose of Izanagi.

The blindness might be plot no for the transplanting o the eyes.
