This anime was one of the first ones I've watched , one of them who welcomed me into the anime world (The others being Naruto and Death Note) . So , I'm curious , do you like it ? Or do you dislike it ? And why ?

I've seen many discussions of it , many people overrate it , many people underrate it . I enjoyed it so far , it was pretty refreshing , but one problem . What is it though ? Yes , it is too much romance . The story suddenly changed into the lovey dovey couple Kirito and Asuna . It became pathetic , but I didn't drop it . I was fine with it somehow , but ALO completely sucked . I gave it a 9 only because the action , characters and the amazing animation . Some romance fans might have liked it , but I think it was too much ...

Aincrad arc was awesome, i wish they would have expanded it, maybe 40 episodes, yes the romance was a little excessive, i personally thought Kirito was going on the harem route, but the writers had other things in mind. The other arc that are stll Light Novels have less romance though.

PS: How do is 'The world Only God Knows'?, I've seen it around but never really watched it.

I lost interest when I found out he goes back into another video game. Should've ended with the completion of the first game

Mediocre anime. Loved by kids who like video games and swords.

Would not recommend. Because you can spend your time watching better shit.

I thought it was alright. The romance was overdone (which is why some refer to SAO as the "Twilight of anime") and Kirito was a Gary Stu but it was ok. If it does get another season, it will probably be better since the following arcs are less romance focused.

If you want an anime somewhat similar to SAO, I recommend you watch Log Horizon. Same concept of players being stuck in a game, but much more laid back and it focuses more on the aspects of MMO's which makes it enjoyable. It's still ongoing too.

the reason why it sucks so much is simple.

1. it began out amazing with a great plot and the promise of entertaining characters and a strong female lead.
2. the plot was largely ignroed and changed so many times in the show that it pissed you off, the majority of the characters became irrelavent and/or were boring and the strong female lead turned out be a character 1,000xworse then sakura. seriosuly Asuna sucked.

to elaborate, the story began with players going to be fighting for survivial and for their lives, what happened was that story element was almost entirely over looked with just Asuna and Kirito faffing, and then the first half just decides to end for no goddamn reason, with one puny 5 minute battle between the main villain and kirito. then things went to utter shit with the second half. the second half was just garbage that isn't even worth getting into because it was just shit.

if i were you just watch the first 14 episodes and pretend that the second half doesn't exist and you got a semi-good anime that even though it features faffing about for 1/2 of it, it still has many good points that you will enjoy.

Just for the love of everything holy and sacred ignore part 2 to avoid having a large portion of your life wasted and you being pissed off.-

also if you like strong female characters in shows(like myself) you will definetly hate this show, because of Asuna. Asuna was potrayed as a powerful female in the beginning and then at the end well she just becomes the equivalnet of princess peach except for the fact taht princess peach had better character development. in short Asuna regressed instead of having her character progress in development

Terrible, they have such a cool world and they don't do anything with it. I stopped watching when they left the game, and from what I've heard it somehow gets even worse after that. I hated the romance aspect but it was just so badly done I don't see how romance fans could like it either.

I enjoyed it until ALO arc...aincrad was just awesome. Well, romance was not a huge problem for me, i give it a 9/10. Animation and soundtracks deserve a 10, actually U_U

I liked the show at first. Great/strong female character and a cool a cool male lead. And then after episode 2 or 3 it just went soo down hill. Asuna just turned into his house wife and a mother to some strange child and left all the action to him. Kirito was OP for no reason. The last fight with the creator of the game was just bullshit and way too simple and short. I would give the first half a 6.5/10. The anime was good, soundtrack good, and it started off really good, but went down hill after
Now the second half of this show is just soo bad that i cant even believe i watched it. I'm shocked when people say this was an awesome anime. The second half is just ****ed up. The whole incest business with his sister is just worrying and ****ed up. Asuna is now a damsel in distress and needs kirito to save her. And dont get me started with the whole tentacle hentai.
Second half is just a mess. No rating.

After watching the first few episodes I was convinced SAO was going to be one of the best overall animes of its time, after maybe a dozen episodes though, plot progression and character development completely stop and the hero and heroine of the series (young kids) become romantically involved and it becomes a cheesy halfassed romance.

Part 2 was one of the most disappointing anime arcs in mankind... they beat the game and of course go back into a new one... :| and then the fact that his sister wants his D and the heroine is practically raped and forced upon every time they show her...

I'd suggest watching it up until YOU know its about to go downhill and never return... AND THEN WALK AWAY and forget about ever watching the rest

I liked the first season it was great, the second was awful in my opinion and made me feel like I wasted my time even following the series.

It was a complete 360 turn, they should have just stopped after the first season. They didn't have to have asuna trapped in another game. That was just forced.
