In the year 2022, the Virtual reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) Sword Art Online (SAO) is released. With the Nerve Gear, a VR Helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. But an unexpected event occurs on November 6, 2022 when Akihiko Kayaba, the creator of SAO, prevents the players from logging out. Akihiko issues them a challenge; if they wish to be free and log out of the game, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in the game, so will their bodies in the real world. As the game's 10,000 players try to accept their new deadly predicament, Kirito, a skilled player who tested the beta version of the game, is determined to reach the 100th floor and attain freedom. As he befriends other players along the way.

Oh, you poor people who haven't read the light novel that it's based on have no idea what you're missing... U_U

But, even so, the anime is fantastic. The animation itself, is top notch: very beautiful in HQ.

OH YEAH! I <3 this show! I just started watching it yesterday and I'm already at the latest =DD Btw, do you know when episode 10 is coming out? o_O

BEWARE. SPOILERS.
What I don't like about it though is that they don't put much detail on each floor they have progressed. It's just too fast O_O. Or is it just me?

You're missing the point of the show. It's not about the "clearing of the floors". It's about the philosophy of it all. They're trapped in this new game, and are fighting two different mentalities.

"This is just a game." and "This is now my reality."

The story is about the relationships that forge between the characters, who try to overcome the "dream world" of Aincrad and recognize it as a real world. Thus, where the penalty of Death comes in. By introducing this, it's no longer a dream, but real.

The Floor Clearing part is mainly to help the plot, and to introduce some action.

^I wouldn't open that if you don't want minor spoilers.

I think what he means is that it's progressing way too quickly. Sure the whole theme they're trying to generate is being stuck in a fantasy land and watching the characters personalities grow and whatnot, but still, the random timeskips are really big. First two episodes, they're on the first floor discussing the whole "something bad happened" and what they're going to do about it, then a few episodes later they're on the 50th floor or so.
The next episode they're in two years or something
^Kinda spoilerish

My point is the pace of which the anime is advancing is a bit fast for a lot of people.
