A Swift Release instructor approached Trunks, garbed in his classic gold and blue uniform.

"Greetings, young one!" he announced, a kind and genuine smile spread across his face. "My name is Robert Frank, master of the Speed Element, or Swift Release. Swift Release is a unique ability, especially if one were to consider it an element. Unlike abilities that modify your body, such as the Eight Inner Gates which open the limiters of your muscles and mind or Weight Adjustment techniques that make your body lighter, and therefore easier to move around, Swift Release is the infusion of chakra throughout your body to achieve a specific speed in a specific manner. When talking about the range of a Swift technique, we're generally referring to how far one can move when implementing the technique, though there are a few exceptions.

"With the Speed Element, each technique temporarily grants a quality to an object, generally the user's own body, that allows said object to move in specific ways at specific speeds. Regardless of mass, volume, weight, leg muscle superiority, or any other properties, each Swift Release technique is identical between all users. As for the speed of Swift Release itself, it's relative to what's being done. Moving in a consistent fashion, such as in a straight line or in circles, is much faster than performing more complex movements, such as throwing punches.

"Finally, the major weakness of Swift Release lays in the fact that in order to move at all, consistent traction is required. Running on ice is dangerous, especially in circles and especially while accelerating, as is running from solid ground to mud, vice-versa, or running on uneven terrain. Swift helps you move fast in simple ways, but it doesn't move you, so susceptibility to difficult terrain can be a major downfall.

"If you have any questions to ask before proceeding to proper training in how techniques are performed and work, I'd encourage you to ask them now, though you are certainly welcome to ask me anything at any point during our training."

The Whizzer, nice!

Trunks listens as the very vibrant man explains the power that Trunks knew to lay dormant inside him. He listens carefully as he explains the fighting style, being sure to note the differences between this and similiar techniques. With the properties of the element taken care of, Trunks continues to listen as his teacher explains the main limitations of this technique. Already trying to come up with ways around this limitation, Trunks nods in affirmation as his teacher finished.

I don't have any questions at this time Sensei, but I'll be sure to let you know when I do Trunks says, expressing his understanding of the material thus far.

There's so many things I love about The Whizzer... The Mongoose blood, his superhero name, that chicken hat he sometimes wears, even the quote from his wikia page: "Yeah, we all did o.k. tonight..." What even is this man? xD

"Very good. Then we shall start at the utmost basics of this 'element' and work our way up from there!"

Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: C-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra: 15
Damage: 30
Description: the basic technique of Swift Release, the user will do the Boar handseal and use his chakra to move at increased speed in short range. He can use this to perform free form taijutsu attacks or to dodge small scaled techniques. However, the technique is very short lived and can only last 1 to 2 seconds, being good enough for one or two punches or a simple side step.

"Swift Release puts heavy emphasis on the Boar Handseal, so if you only have a passing familiarity with said seal, I would suggest learning to form and utilize it as well and as quickly as you can. That is the name of the game, after all - be fast. With that being said, the Swift Release Technique is the basis upon which the rest of the element is built - it is weak and limited, but understanding this will lead to bigger and better things.

"By forming the Boar seal, your body is filled with the presence of Swift Release for a fleeting moment - no more than a second or two. With this short moment, you are able to move your body within short-range of where you started. Not effective for traversing the battlefield, but certainly useful to side-step a fireball, throw a couple good punches faster than your opponent can see, or even semi-instantaneously 'jump' behind your opponent while engaged in close-quarters combat to drop a surprise strike. Remember, limited doesn't mean 'useless', it means 'creative'.

"Finally, an appendix to what I was talking about earlier, and not something specifically about this technique, but Swift Release has been known to allow one to move whilst mid-air. It's far less effective than its grounded counterpart, and for obvious reasons. Instead of pushing off of solid ground, the Speed Element is doing most of the work in moving you. Mid-air Swift is best used for dodging or returning to the ground so the element can be used properly again, though this topic calls back to what I just said previous. 'Creative', not 'useless'."

The mongoose blood is what got me into him because reading it as a kid, I was thinking he'd develope some sort of anti-snake abilities because of another story popular where I'm from lol. I don't know much about him though, my grandpa only had 5 or 6 of his comics in a box when I discovered it lol. This is the first time I've actually discussed him with someone though, so its nice to see that the gold/silver age characters aren't completely forgotten! Lol

BTW are we doing the same training style as before, or something different? It makes no difference to me, but I'mma do the same one for this technique to make things simple.

His teacher begins with telling him about the importance of the Boar hand seal, and how it relates to Swift, prompting Trunks to nearly immediately begin practicing this hand sign as he listened. As he practices, Trunks listens to his teacher tell about the basic applications of this first technique, even going into detail about how it could be used outside of normal running and movements something Trunks hadn't even considered until now.

As his teacher finishes explaining, Trunks forms the boar hand sign to concentrate his Swift chakra. It immediately floods his body with a feeling of power, as he uses this chakra to burst into speed unknown to himself, as he quickly shuffles to the left. Forming the hand sign once more, he does it again, but this time to the right.

Unreal. Using the minimal amount of effort, I can use this chakra to aid in propelling my from one spot to another nearby in a flash. This will make taijutsu and CCQ easier overall. Although, I don't see myself gaining much distance here, so it's fairly limited to applications. If I keep this in mind though, this technique could be devistating to the right opponent.

Yeah, I was intending for at least a similar training method. Sticking to what you'd know will help get through the session in a reasonable time.

Also, I really only know The Whizzer because I like looking up obscure/ridiculous comic characters. I'm actually impressed that you've seen him in an actual comic book.

"Precisely! But great use of a limited technique is the defining characteristic of a skilled shinobi, so having a deep understanding of ones arsenal, even if filled with such "limited" techniques, is always important."

Type: Offensive
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description:
A simple taijutsu move combined with the abilities of Swift Release. The user will do one handseal (Boar) and infuse his body with chakra, flashing towards his target to deliver a simple punch. While exceedingly fast, the technique bares the same limitations of any other Swift Release technique.

"This technique, Shadow Punch, is a simple dash maneuver. Using Boar, again, you move in a straight line towards your intended target, punching them when you reach their immediate vicinity. Something of note for this technique is that it incorporates two speeds: the first is your dash speed, which is quite high and difficult to track. You will be a blur, if anything at all, to your opponents. The second speed is your punch speed, which, while still relatively fast, is considerably slower than your dash. Though it's considerably easier to track, your opponent will still need to register your sudden appearance and need to begin moving to stop a punch that is already in progress, which would require they move faster than you. Not that physically moving is the only way to stop a Swift punch, and it may even be the least effective way."

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
The user will do the Boar handseal and disappear in a flash of speed. As he moves around the target, his immense speed creates afterimages that can effectively be confused with clones. The user needs to move in a circular or spherical pattern around the enemy to produce the effect. The afterimages will all mirror the movement of eachother which is the movement the user is doing himself. A very useful distraction, the technique can produce up to 9 copies of the user and unless the user has a doujutsu or a sensory ability, he won't be able to tell the difference between each afterimage. Although perfectly visible, the images flicker slightly and are to some extent translucent, not being easily confused with clones. While the target is distracted the user can attack with weapons or taijutsu. Although the enemy will see the user moving to attack, he won't be able to notice which afterimage is going to attack.

"A very useful technique, a kind of fusion between taijutsu and genjutsu, you begin with Boar, and then literally running circles around your opponent. With your speed, you can produce afterimages of yourself which mimic everything you do perfectly. These images mimic everything you do, and are very distinguishable from clones. This technique implies your ability to use Swift mid-air, allowing you to move about spherically in addition to circularly. Even though each afterimage mimics your movements, one requires dojutsu to actually differentiate where you truly are, allowing some easy strikes on your target."

If you want a Speed Chart reference, the punch is trackable by 2T Sharingan and any other dojutsu, as well as high-level taijutsu users (the Swift rules examplify Kaguya and EIG users, though K.Tai masters and probably even Tai specialists will likely also be able to track. However, to quote the Speed Chart: "This doesn't, however, include the actual counter action but rather all the process that goes from noticing the action to starting the counter action." Not that the Speed Chart is to be something you rely on and base turns and arguments around - it's a general guideline and to quote it once more, "This isn't meant to be used to your advantage during battle, which if you do, will only take the fun out of RP. You're not allowed to take the fun out of RP. "

To further illustrate that the Speed Chart isn't the be-all-end-all of rules, against someone of your own rank with 2T, the speed boost of your punch would be a minimum of +13, and the speed boost of your dash would be a minimum of +15. Obviously you move a lot faster when dashing than when punching, which create problems (which only exist because techniques and Swift Rules specify ways that you can be tracked, but the Speed Chart throws numbers into the mix which complicate and confuse things. For example: your opponent is a Sage with 1T, and you use this. You've moving, at max, 20. The Sage can track, at minimum, 22.5. This contradicts what the Swift Rules seems to imply, which is the reason you can't be basing arguments and moves off of the numbers. Speed Chart is a last resort, the relative wording of techniques and abilities should be considered first. That was a really long-winded way of saying that x_x Not that I think you'll try abusing stuff, but so that, for general cases, I have this explained explicitly)

Well, if it wasn't for my Grandpa, I probably would never have seen any of his comics either, so I give him all he credit lol.

Trunks listens to his teacher explain the next step in this element, adding taijutsu to the mix. This would set up its own set of challenges and new experiences, but he would need to get a feel for it to know any of that. Knowing this, Trunks sets up a dummy not far from where he and his teacher stand.

Forming the boar hand seal, Trunks channels his Swift chakra through his body while finding his target. Dashing toward the dummy in a blur, Trunks would transverse the distance in a flash, moving to punch the dummy as he reaches it. Hitting the target with moderate force, so that he could continue to use it throughout the training, Trunks fully takes the experience of the technique into consideration.

Simple enough of a technique, once you're accustomed to using Swift chakra that is. Moving in a swift induced dash toward my opponent, I punch them as I enter range. Complex running paths wouldn't be possible, which is the main disadvantage to theis technique. I do see what you mean by running speed compared to punching speed. As I raise my speed, my reactions naturally raise with it to keep up, so I was able to notice the change in speeds better once I actually did it. Another simple, yet effective technique to add to my arsenal.

Trunks then makes sure he has a few meters distance between he and his teacher for demonstration of the next technique. He then forms the boar handseal and dashes in a circular motion around his teacher using Swift chakra. His main body would seem to disappear in blur, but reappear in few different locations. As he begins to notice the images taking effect as they should, Trunks decides to have some fun with it. Knowing the images would mock his actions, Trunks begins making funny faces at his teacher; sticking out his tongue, stretching his ears and blowing out his cheeks like a monkey, etc. After a while of this, Trunks would slow down and begin to dissect the technique.

Using my swift chakra, I run around my opponent at high speeds, producing after images that are meant to confuse my opponent as to my real location. This could be useful in a lot of ways, concealing movements or attacks, forcing illusions as to what my plan of attack might be, and so on. However, if it were me being faced with this technique, I would simply attack all of the images at once with a large scale attack, so even when facing an opponent without dojutsu or sensory, this technique can still be risky.

"Very good. And now for the A-rank Swift Techniques.

First on the docket, is Shadowless Flight. Swift Technique may be the jutsu you build upon to create the rest of your Swift Release arsenal, but Shadowless Flight is the technique that defines this element as the go-to embodiment of everything. You make a single handseal, wonder what it'll be, and move faster than you've ever moved before. Shadowless Flight is a cut above the techniques you've been using before now, pumping up your speed to surpass the reactions of those who only have their physical prowess to keep up with you. High-level doujutsu, such as the fully-formed Sharingan, are now required to even hope to keep up with your movements. Of course, this boost also translates to your complex movement speed, though to a lesser degree. In a simple sense, Shadowless Flight sends you from one point on a battlefield to anywhere else in the 3-dimensional space of the battlefield, taking a straight-line path from A to B. This is generally used to take you to your opponent, and then you can quickly jump around them and throw out simple Taijutsu strikes. Of course, "quickly" is relative - you will obviously be moving slower than your initial dash, but still with Swift speeds."

Rank: A
Type: Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: After making a single hand seal the user can move at fast speeds through the release of the swift release and then strike their opponent at multiple angles. The jutsu is effective against strength based close-combat Taijutsu users such as Tsunade and Sakura. However sharingan of tomo 3 is capable of reading the movements and can react to the opponents attacks.
Note: Can only be used by a swift user bio.

"Next is the Blacksmith Form, which is an oddity for Swift Release in more ways than one. For starters, it's a stationary technique. By remaining still, you'll utilize the Speed Element to rotate your body, turning your chakra into RPM instead of MPH. While spinning, you simply unleash hell with projectile weapons. Kunai, shuriken, senbon, if you have it and can throw it, it's fair game. By simply attaching explosive tags to your weapons, you can increase the power of this technique (effectively making it S-rank by adding +20 damage) for no extra chakra cost. The other oddity of Blacksmiths Form is that you are required to form two handseals, instead of simply Boar. Aside from that, it's a fairly simple technique that mimics Tenten's fighting style, but with far greater speeds."

Type: Offensive
Rank: A-rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description:
The user will do 2 handseals and infuse his body with chakra which he will use to rotate a fiercely high speeds while he unleashes a barrage of weapons all around. This technique is nothing more than using Swift Releases ability to make the user move faster to produce an omnidirectional attack by powering his ability to throw basic weapons much faster than normal. If the user uses Explosive Tags in his weapons he can add +20 explosive damage.

"Our final A-rank technique is an improvement upon Demon's Mimicry. Similar to Shadowless Flight, all you do is move faster than you have before, this time in a circle around your opponent like the aforementioned technique. By moving at such high speeds, you are able to create suction that draws the air out of the center of your circle, which will be where your opponent is located. Katon becomes ineffective inside the circle due to the lack of oxygen, and the other, more obvious, side-effect is that your opponent will have less oxygen to breathe, and eventually pass out if caught inside for too long. Very simple, quite potent if used correctly, though you are quite limited in what you can do while generating the suction effect, as you're required to run continuously for the technique to have effect."

Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user makes the Boar seal, molding his swift chakra throughout their body, then run in a circle around the opponent at Swift speed, surrounding them in a short-mid range radius. This will lead to a funnel effect, creating a cylindrical shaped tornado from the pure speed of the user running cutting thru the viscosity of air. The tornado will draw out oxygen from the inside which will begin to asphyxiate the person inside, as well as make all Katon jutsu the same rank and below fail as there will be no oxygen left to fuel them inside of the massive churning vortex of wind. The vacuum effect would take a few seconds to kick in. If caught in the vacuum for two turns, the opponent will pass out. The user may not perform any other jutsu while using this.
Note: Usable only thrice per battle.

Sorry about the wait, just realized that I wasn't subscribed to my own thread, so yeah there's that.

Trunks forms a single handseal to concentrate his swift chakra into his lower body. Taking off with his dominant left leg, Trunks infuses swift chakra into every step, moving at speeds that would render him a blur to everyone but Sharingan users. Transversing the training grounds in a fraction of a moment, Trunks then allows his movements to somewhat slow as he begins to bounce around the target. With each bounce, Trunks lands another strike, and then bounces away from the immediate area to another angle for the next blow. He lands around 10 blows this way before stopping and allowing his swift chakra to fade.

This technique is simple, yet effective because of the speeds that we are working with. It would be easy to see how you can overwhelm your opponent with little effort thanks to this technique. That is, everyone but Sharingan wielders. They would be a natural counter to this jutsu, given their eyes could see my movements, maybe with enough time to form a counter. Other than that, it seems this technique is pretty evenly balanced in both practical use and attack reasons

Trunks forms two handseals to concentrate his swift chakra once more. This time, however, he doesn't run, but instead begins spinning at high speeds. Mirroring a stationary tornado, Trunks begins throwing all of his weapons that he can, shuriken, kunai, senbon. All going in every direction all at once. Slowing his spins, Trunks begins to speak.

This is a handy technique for those who use this fighting style, such as Ten Ten. And it could also be good for when you find yourself outnumbered and/or surrounded. However, with your focus being on your foot and hand speed, you are open to attack from anyone behind a protective structure of any kind, which makes it really risky.

Trunks forms one handseal to concentrate his swift chakra into his legs once more, this time running in a circle about 3 meters in diameter. Increasing his speed to insane levels, Trunks pulls all of the oxygen in the area out, creating a vacuum of sorts around his target. Slowing down, Trunks tells his teacher about the technique.

This could be a handy technique, if used with the right jutsu, or fighting style. Instead of looking to directly hurt the target, it simply incapacitates them, depriving them from oxygen. I also like the fire retardant property, that could really help against certain opponents. Again though, while doing this, I am open to attack, so I'll have to be very careful about using it

I love the final technique

(Hayaton: Takai Hebi no Kamu) Swift Release: High Serpent's Bite
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 40
Damage: N/A
Description:
In response to an enemy attack, the user will produce both a defense and counter by making one handseal (Boar) and infusing his body with chakra. As he does this, he moves at extremely high speeds in what can be described as virtually instant, out of the way of the technique and behind the opponent. Upon reaching behind the opponent, the user is free to either do a simple, powerful taijutsu attack and take advantage of the speed to a surprise effect or, by losing the surprise effect, produce a weapon or ninjutsu attack.

You focus swift chakra into your body. This allows you to evade an attack with the gained speed and stop at the opponent's blind spot and land an attack either using taijutsu or ninjutsu.

I love techniques like this. It's simultaneous attack and defence, which is always great, especially when trying to change the flow of battle into your favor, and at full strength as well. It doesn't work against all techniques, specifically very large ones, but the ones that it does work against would be left completely avoided, by simply dodging with Swift chakra. Then, to add to that motion, run around the opponent to their back/blind spot where you can attack. I also like how the description leaves the technique open for multiple styles of attack, instead of forcing Taijutsu like many of the other techniques. This will make a great addition to my arsenal, especially since it has very few weaknesses that can be exploited, unless it is set up before hand. Overall, a great technique that I see myself using a lot
