I believe a Susanoo reflects that persons character. For instance

Madaras Susanoo is double sided, a reflection of his inner conflict between power and love.

Kakashis susanoo got his scar to show the guilt he still felt over obitos fate. he felt he was a failure to his comrades and that scar was a memory to him of what lead to his friends corruption.

Itachi Susanoo has the totsuka blade which traps people in a genjutsu forever and a shield that reflects everything. Itachi susanoo represents his desire to shield himself from his worlds reality and to seclude himself into his own fantasy. Hence the genjutsu blade and the shield that reflects everything.

Sasuke Susanoo early stages resemble his brothers susanoo. His V4 and V3 shows his close connection to his brother.

His V3 resembles that of an archer, which Sasuke use to be when he was by his brothers side as a child.

His v4 develops even furhter to resemble a spitting image of his late brothers V4. Showing his close connection to Itachi.
