Gai would die either way so he never wins.
Kakashi can simply go intangible. Yes, he can react to 8th gate Gai. He doesn't have to move, he just has to go intangible.
Obito went intangible when 6th gate Gai tried to surprise attack him. He wasn't even focused/looking. Double Kamui=twice the speed.
Gai isn't touching him. He'll run out of chakra quickly.
