Sage never had Mangekyo and filler has never been canon. All PS are the same size as full Kurama which is the same size as RSM Naruto's avatar, they are nowhere near as large as 10 tails which is at least 10times as large as a bijuu.

He was stated to possess the rinnegan because that was the most hyped one. But manga says Indra inherited his father's powerful eyes. So it would make sense if hagoromo had the sharingan too even if you consider this filler. What does not make sense to me is how he suddenly unlocked an eye on his forhead. weird as shit.

Nope, the author made it clear Indra's eyes come from Kaguya and not the Sage. Sharingan was a result of not having Ashura's Yang, the Sage had both halves of chakra and therefore would have awakened the Rinnegan directly as opposed to going through Sharingan phase like Uchiha.

And the thing on his forehead wasn't meant to be an eye but a seal that prevents him from awakening Kaguya's eye. These filler episodes aren't meant to be canon, they're just for entertainment.
