The certain information about the fourth season of Supernatural in a re-airing of the episode "Malleus Maleficarum" aired on July 17, 2008. It is revealed that the fourth season of Supernatural will start four months after the third season finale. It has been revealed that Dean has escaped hell with no memory of the past four months and his time in hell. It is also revealed that Dean and Sam's grandfather will make an appearance in an episode reliving the past, as will John and Mary Winchester as teenagers. There will also be a black and white episode made as a throwback to early era monster movies. The fourth season will also feature Supernatural's first ever Halloween special.
