Summoning Contracts

The Summoning Technique (口寄せの術 Kuchiyose no Jutsu) is a special Space–Time Ninjutsu that allows the summoner to transport animals across long distances, instantly. The amount of Chakra used for the summoning technique is proportionate to the Rank of the creature to be summoned. Whenever an animal is summoned it is transported from its place of residence to the summoner's location. Once summoned, the animal can perform a task or assist the contracted signer in battle. The summoned animal is not obliged to help the user, and may ultimately be more of a hindrance than an ally. In addition, summoned animals are able to Reverse-Summon contract signers, pulling them from danger when logically feasible. The creatures may also wear particular clothing or a forehead protector, thereby implying a loyalty exclusive to a specific organization or Village.

Contract Types

Basic Contract: Contracts composed of extant animals of non-mythological origin. Cats, Dogs, Birds, Lizards, Insects and Fish are all examples of these basic forms of Contract Animals.
  • Costs no Kumi.
  • Can have up to Six signers in addition to the Contract Owner.
  • Can have Two Basic Abilities.
  • Allowed to have up to 10 Summons and 10 Contract Ninjutsu.

Ancient Contract: Contracts that contain animals once thought to be extinct. Examples includes Tyrannosaurus and Woolly Mammoths.
  • Costs 2000 Kumi.
  • Can have up to Six signers in addition to the Contract Owner.
  • Can have Two Basic Abilities.
  • Allowed to have up to 10 Summons and 10 Contract Ninjutsu.

Mythical Contract: Contracts that summon forth beasts from Mythological origins. Phoenix, Griffins, Wyverns and Dragons are all examples of mythical animals that can form the basis of a Mythical Summoning Contract. Custom Clan Summoning Contracts are considered Mythical Contracts, unless stated otherwise.
  • Costs 10,000 Kumi.
  • Can have up to Three signers in addition to the Contract Owner.
  • Can have Three Basic Abilities, and One Unique Ability. Unique Abilities come with their own limits, which are expanded upon below.
  • Allowed to have up to 5 Summons and 8 Contract Ninjutsu.
  • If a Biography has a Mythical Contract, they can't have any other Contracts of Mythical or higher on that same Biography.

Legendary Contract: The rarest and most powerful kind of Contract available, they allow Contracted signers to summon creatures not only from Mythical origins, but also from all of fiction in general. Examples include Xenomorphs, Tengu, Nightmare Foxes, etc.
  • Costs 20,000 Kumi.
  • Can have up to One signer in addition to the Contract Owner.
  • Can have Three Basic Abilities, and Two Unique Abilities. Unique Abilities come with their own limits, which are expanded upon below.
  • Allowed to have up to 4 Summons and 8 Contract Ninjutsu.
  • Legendary Contract Ninjutsu have higher Damage/ Chakra when used by the Summons themselves. For example Tengubi will have 120 damage S-Ranks when used by Tengu, but 80 damage S-Ranks when used by Madara Uchiha.
  • If a biography has a Legendary Contract, it is the only Contract allowed on that biography. Additionally Legendary Summons are not allowed to be taken as Personal Summons on a given Biography. In return for this limitation and more expensive requirement to a user's bio, Legendary Summons do not carry a set duration once summoned, instead they last indefinitely until defeated, dismissed or are otherwise dispersed.

Restrictions

  • Each user can make up to three Custom Summoning Contracts. They can make their first starting at Academy Student Rank, their second at Genin Rank, and their third at Sage Rank.
  • Each biography is allowed two Contracts, increasing to three if they are Sage Rank. For Custom Biographies, these can be any combination of Canon and Custom, but for Canon biographies and their skins, they can have any Custom Contracts, but can only have Canon Summoning Contracts the bio themselves showed in the series. Kakashi can't summon Monkeys, Orochimaru can't summon Bees, Jiraiya can't summon Hawks and so on.
  • Only one of the user's own submitted Custom Contracts is allowed to be Mythological or higher.
  • In combat the user can only perform Summoning techniques from a single Contract, unless they possess a relevant specialty or ability, like the Apex Summoning Specialty.

Basic & Unique Abilities

As stated above each Contract can have a number of "passive" or inherent traits for each animal on the Contract. While more powerful abilities are restricted to rare and unique Animals, such as Mythical and Legendary, even Basic Contracts approved before the introduction of this system can have a number of Basic abilities, starting at 2 and increasing with each Contract's rarity.

In regards as to what's allowed with Basic Abilities, each Summoning Animal is unique, however abilities such as passive damage increases for specific types of Jutsu used, such as an Element that specific Animal has an affinity for, damage mitigation, and a form of sensory based on the type of animal, like dogs with their sense of smell, are some of the benefits allowed via Basic Abilities. Additionally, in regards to basic abilities, despite having more on a Mythical or Legendary Contract, what is allowed is limited to the same scale as what would be allowed on a Basic Summoning Contract, as it's the same mechanic and set of Abilities. Stronger Contracts simply have more of them.

Unique abilities are far more diverse, and open in what's allowed for them. With uniques your Summoning animals are allowed to go beyond the conventional boundaries of what's allowed on a Summoning Contract. This includes allowing them access to certain fields within a given scope, allowing the summons access to fields like Advanced Ninjutsu or Elements, or even creating their own unique Advanced Ninjutsu or Element adjacent abilities. Contracts with Kekkei Genkai Unique Abilities are less likely to be approved unless the user and more specifically the Biography using that Contract has that same Kekkei Genkai. In other words, a Contract with a Kekkei Genkai Unique must be summoned by a biography that also possesses that Kekkei Genkai. Dojutsu and Tier 4 and higher abilities are excluded, making them ineligible as Unique's on a Contract. Kekkei Genkai that the Summoner does not have can be copied in battle should an appropriate ability exist, but these types of Unique Abilities, those that steal or mimic another targets abilities, come with their own limitations. Should a Contract have the Ability of theft/ mimicry, it must have a mechanic that does not enable this to be unlimited in terms of both acquired abilities and the duration of which these mimicked/ stolen abilities last. This means it will either have a time duration, a range limitation, a Chakra pool to draw from, or similar drawbacks/ mechanics to these. Additionally should a Unique grant the Contract the ability of mimicry/ theft, it uses both a Unique and a Basic Ability slot for the Contract. In a broader sense however Unique Abilities are intended to incorporate unique elements of a Legendary Animal's myth, legend, etc, adding a more unique twist to your contract as a whole, and granting them abilities they would otherwise not be capable of having.
