Suiton Usefulness?

Honestly, yeah, there are a few Suiton-type moves that do decent damage, but compared to the other elements, Suiton is fairly fodder, right? So tell me, what's the actual usefulness in learning Water Release besides some "okay" defense and attacks? Why put time into it and not other elements?

It's a fluid blunt force weapon. Because you can change its density it can be used to restrict movement or just as a solid object smashing into something. The density also helps in defense as you mentioned and it can be used as a smoke screen (hidden mist). Its actually one of the most, if not the most versatile elements. The drowning part is just an added bonus.

I can't actually remember a point when a fire style actually connected throughout the manga. Even then it would be like 1/50 strike rate.

Are you talking about the Hydrification technique? It does seem slightly OP, but that's the only one, really. Then again, Lightning Release ****s it up pretty bad too. I just don't see why you'd pick Water, y'know? Why not fire, or lightning? I only find it useful if you "Waterbend" it and use it at your own will and do basically whatever you want with it. Also, Earth Release I find kinda sucky as well. Really, Fire, Lightning and Wind Release are the best[imo].

True, true. You have valid points. Then again, people dodge so much in this, almost everything has a 1/50 rate, amirite?

Very true, but hey they are ninjas after all. Ill also add that suitons are similar to doton (both blunt force) but suiton can be redirected once in flight. That's a huge advantage over doton, although the trade of is you need to create you own water if there isn't any around. On the other hand water clones are one of the better ones since they can be used offensively and defensively since killing one can result in you being trapped in a water prison (team gai against kisame).

I see. Well thanks for that, I guess I do see why it's rather useful. Though it does seem to be more on the defensive side if anything[the whole element itself]. I guess my eyes are opened a little wider now. Though offensively- it didn't seem to have too many great techniques that required little water in the area.

Water prison is dangerous in & of itself. Anyways suiton is my 2nd favorite release due to its versatility & killing capability. It might not have power like fire or lightning but its got the potential to kill even the strongest ninja (nobody can survive a drowning...well except for kisame >.>).

Katon: You're gonna shoot fire at me.

Fuuton: Your gonna shoot slicing wind, or enhance your blade.

Ranton: piercing attacks

Doton: defensive walls...maybee a sandwich jutsu



With Suiton....who knows. Maybe a wall. A prison?! Sometimes a clone. A mist to conceal one's self, or a big ass dragon. With its harder predictability, it makes for a more versatile element in combat. Additionally, the offensive moves, while they don't burn, shock, or test you apart, would cause massive internal damage like internal bleeding.

And finally, drowning or forms of suffocation are good methods.


This is one reason water is probably my favorite....versatility makes for the best shinobi.
