Suigetsu wouldn't be able to damage Gaara, but he can just turn into water to survive Gaara's attacks. In the end I think Gaara would just use a sealing jutsu on Suigetsu and win the fight.

Gaara still has his father's gold sand right? That should be immune to water.

Gaara stomps. With the Shukaku's chakra he rapes immensely.

Gaara wins.
A great impact on his body still causes damage as seen during the Taka vs Bee fight. If he gets buried deep underground and smashed, i don't see him coming back.
Having to use Hydrification constantly to survive Gaara's attacks will also drain him quickly.
