I think it's just because they're teammates. Maybe he does care for her but not on a romantic level.

I dont think think so. They have little history as a team.
Suigetsu was claiming to be exploiting sasuke for the swords, yet he jumped into TBB, to save karin most likely.
He was about to flee whole "joining the war" shit until karin showed up.
