Just got back from seeing it and gotta say it was pretty good idk what all the complainers have to say but it's definitely worth the watch, pretty crowded theater too. One thing I noticed though, movie theaters around here aren't even giving it a good chance. Usually when a highly discussed movie like this comes out it gets late showings, as close to midnight as they can get, but around me one theater's latest showing for standard format was 9:40 and anothers' was 10 3d was a little later but usually both forms are offered late on a movie they expect people to go to.

As a comic fan it was a really good movie, really hit the feeling of all the characters. Will had to put a little of himself in it as he does every role but the trademark Lawton cockiness came across still. Margot was a great Harley. Every time I heard Harley say Puddin or Mistah J I couldn't help but smile. Which leads us to the man himself The Joker. It wasn't bad, in fact it was pretty damn good and the execution along with the scenes made the tat's and teeth beyond a second thought. The scenes were the most Joker-esque to date, the I do what I want attitude was there in spades, his and Harley's interactions were great. People are inevitably going to compare him to Ledger's which they shouldn't be doing since both are great representations of The Joker in their own rights. Diablo was well done, I really liked him in the comic so it was nice to see him done well. They did a good job with his powers I thought. Wasn't a fan of Croc's line delivery some time but he looked pretty neat. Boomerang was a bit of comedic relief. Waller is a boss as always.

The action scenes were pretty good. They had good fight choreography. I enjoyed all the movie breaks I thought those were nicely done and placed, they added to the feel of a comic movie which is nice for me when so many others try to ground it in realism. Here SS is stopping the film adding cartoon-y images, it's a nice change of pace for a comic movie to not take itself too serious in the age where some comic readers take themselves so serious that they don't read comics they read "graphic novels" (ehh my fingers hurt just typing those bs words) The special effects for Diablo and Enchantress were nicely done. Some of the character development and team bonding happened a little faster than it really would have but there's only so much time available. There weren't many if any scenes I can think of where I thought well that doesn't make sense for them to do this when they could just do this which can happen a lot in super hero fiction.

As I said for fans of the comics this should be a pretty entertaining movie with a lot of cool moments but as for the regular movie goer who's watching it because comic movies are the popular thing to watch right now and they like some of them then I can't really say one way or the other whether or not you'll like the movie. It's not really a comedy so don't go in expecting a laugh a minute or a Deadpool-esque movie but it does have a bit of comedy to it don't get it confused. Either way I recommend it, definitely a solid high 7 arguably an 8 in my book.

tl;dr
Go see the damn movie already

The thing is, most critics view it from a standpoint that doesn't include being a comic fan, as to not be biased. If you are a fan of comics/comic book movies, it is a decent to pretty good watch, if you are not, save your $10. As a fan of comics/comic movies, I had to put my bias of not liking Harley Quinn (arguably the most cliche and stale character I have ever seen written) aside, and enjoy the movie for what it was. I think the re-shoots on some scenes and removing so many Joker scenes may have hurt it a bit. Not a bad comic book movie, but I can see why it is reviewed poorly as a movie overall.

My thoughts:

Critically I get the hate cuz there are points where the tone is unclear and the story is messy. But, you gotta take it for what it is, a movie that is a flick that entertains you all the way through. If you liked deadpool then you most likely liked this as well and vice versa.

Margot and will were the Mvps. Amazing performances by both

Joker was meh, not great but not bad. The script didn't really give him a chance to be fleshed out and his role was minimal. Some of it can be blamed on Leto tho.

Croc legit did jackshit the whole movie

The characters arcs were pretty nice: you have deadshot who is a murderer but has the heroic mentality that later gets the crew on board, Margots backstory shows how she wants to live a normal life but is submerged in all this psychotic shit that makes her the way she is, and Diablo is a man who went completely to the dark side and wants retribution.

Villains sucked ass. Like major ass. That whole dancing thing by the women took me out the movie. Their motivations sucked too, they felt like cardboard cut outs of a stereotypical super villain. Also I didn't like that the villain was so op (literally said that she can almost do anything) cuz it Made the final fight pointless. No one other than diablo and deadshot even had a shot at fighting her and it woulda been nice to of used a a villain that actually helps bring out the strengths of the main characters.

The Japanese sword woman was more useless than sakura (naw nvm I take that back but still pretty useless to the story)

The whole romance thing with flag felt articifial. Like I couldn't care less if she died at the end or not

Movie shoulda had more joker scenes. It helped build up Harley and jokers relationship and they shoulda used More of that dynamic of joker chasing after her.

I actually liked the music selection with all the pop songs near the beginning and all throughout the movie but some of the transitions from each of them were sketchy

Deadshots gunrange scene and when he goes ham on those aliens was dope

Interactions within the suicide squad were nice

Overall:7.7

Just watched it. Funny parts, cool/interesting characters and themes but the overall plot, my god, so simple and so f*cking boring, smh. The movie was long enough to have a dynamic plot but it was so generic and linear. After Enchantress brought her brother back the movie went downhill up until the bar scene, then back down but back up after they finally won.

Don't get me started with Joker, he was ass, but I think it's because they wrote him poorly, he was an irrelevant, edgy f*ck who tried too hard to be disturbed. I liked Jared Leto's voice though but his design sucked. All his scenes sucked minus the texting which was funny.

Pros: The music, and the characters and their interaractions minus the Joker and that annoying trope that is Katana.

That said, I'm pleased easily when it comes to these things so I'll give it a 7/10. That plot though, smh.

i Disagree. my padre didn't know what he was getting in to or anything about the suicide squad... he just went because I told him the Joker was in it and he ended up loving it.

That's one, single point of view. I am sure other critics who didn't know what they were getting into liked it as well. The majority though, clearly stated their opinions on it.

The movie is indeed great, it's exactly what I hoped a Suicide Squad movie will be and it more than delivered. I love Harley and Margot Robbie played her to perfection, I couldn't stop smiling everytime she was in a scene. Leto's Joker was amazing, true to the comics. Hell when this iconic scene happened I had to contain myself no to scream.
You must be registered for see images

I could go on and on, but my only grip with the movie was the villain. They should have fought a less OP villain

Can't wait for the blu ray to see all of Joker's deleted scenes.
