Just got back from seeing it and gotta say it was pretty good idk what all the complainers have to say but it's definitely worth the watch, pretty crowded theater too. One thing I noticed though, movie theaters around here aren't even giving it a good chance. Usually when a highly discussed movie like this comes out it gets late showings, as close to midnight as they can get, but around me one theater's latest showing for standard format was 9:40 and anothers' was 10 3d was a little later but usually both forms are offered late on a movie they expect people to go to.
As a comic fan it was a really good movie, really hit the feeling of all the characters. Will had to put a little of himself in it as he does every role but the trademark Lawton cockiness came across still. Margot was a great Harley. Every time I heard Harley say Puddin or Mistah J I couldn't help but smile. Which leads us to the man himself The Joker. It wasn't bad, in fact it was pretty damn good and the execution along with the scenes made the tat's and teeth beyond a second thought. The scenes were the most Joker-esque to date, the I do what I want attitude was there in spades, his and Harley's interactions were great. People are inevitably going to compare him to Ledger's which they shouldn't be doing since both are great representations of The Joker in their own rights. Diablo was well done, I really liked him in the comic so it was nice to see him done well. They did a good job with his powers I thought. Wasn't a fan of Croc's line delivery some time but he looked pretty neat. Boomerang was a bit of comedic relief. Waller is a boss as always.
The action scenes were pretty good. They had good fight choreography. I enjoyed all the movie breaks I thought those were nicely done and placed, they added to the feel of a comic movie which is nice for me when so many others try to ground it in realism. Here SS is stopping the film adding cartoon-y images, it's a nice change of pace for a comic movie to not take itself too serious in the age where some comic readers take themselves so serious that they don't read comics they read "graphic novels" (ehh my fingers hurt just typing those bs words) The special effects for Diablo and Enchantress were nicely done. Some of the character development and team bonding happened a little faster than it really would have but there's only so much time available. There weren't many if any scenes I can think of where I thought well that doesn't make sense for them to do this when they could just do this which can happen a lot in super hero fiction.
As I said for fans of the comics this should be a pretty entertaining movie with a lot of cool moments but as for the regular movie goer who's watching it because comic movies are the popular thing to watch right now and they like some of them then I can't really say one way or the other whether or not you'll like the movie. It's not really a comedy so don't go in expecting a laugh a minute or a Deadpool-esque movie but it does have a bit of comedy to it don't get it confused. Either way I recommend it, definitely a solid high 7 arguably an 8 in my book.
tl;dr
Go see the damn movie already
