Hunter x Hunter is a great anime, but 2011 version is kinda too bright and coloured it doesn't fit the story.

Dude, the thing is better than the original ( in some parts, it misses some of the blood).

Just give it a shot.

If you really want something that is similar to Naruto and Dragonball Z, I seriously recommend Fairy Tail (also a shounen) or Hunter X Hunter (2011). Both are awesome

If you want something more mature, then try Attack on Titan or Death Note. Both are great and short too (well AoT is still running).
