The anime of consisted around the same group of characters in the same setting of the Village and academy for the last 18-19 episodes. So I would like to think redirecting the plot in a setting outside of the village/academy and focusing for characters who were really werent privy to the anime at all or on a consistent basis would be a good thing.

Even for that 0.1%, I don't think they really like the family dynamics of SasuSaku. I think that they are simply either:

Sasuke fans who try to defend SS just for Sasuke's sake (or sometimes just to attack Naruto for the usual Naruto vs Sasuke reasons)
or
Sakura fans who want to justify Sakura's obsession with Sasuke to the very end.
