Studio Pierrot ... Not so bad?

After learning more about the people behind Studio Pierrot, I have gained a new found respect for them. Never in my life had I ever imagined they would be paid no more than 5 dollars a page, working 10 hours a day, for sometimes almost 2 months straight (7 days a week), working to the point where they throw up and/or have to go to the hospital, in a completely silent environment. That is completely unacceptable.


I think my ranting about SP’s lack of care towards certain characters will be over. Sure, I will still wish my favorite characters get better attention and sure, I am still frustrated some get more delicate care than others, but I’ve now learned how much work these people put into all that they do for under minimum wage, and I can’t sit here and ***** about it while they’re being sent to the hospital for work exhaustion.


I am tagging this in some ship tags just to spread the word because I am seriously sick to my stomach that this has gone on for so long and I was too ignorant to notice.

Is this even real? I doubt Studio Pierrot is a sweatshop like the post suggests. I didn't know Japan rolled that way...

I'm calling BS for their laziness, if it's true then I'll never complain again. Should we even be supporting the work from a sweatshop?

Pierrot is a pretty bad studio regardless of working conditions, though. They generally don't animate things that well. Hopefully the conditions can be changed around over there. I wonder what the conditions at studios like ufotable, Madhouse, Bones, and IG are like.

5 bucks a page? If it's an animation cell/image on computer , it's not that bad, since they can produce several "page" in an hour.
Other than that, reading that kind of thing doesn't surprise me. When you know how much time some mangaka takes to finish their chapters.

I thought that a company like SP would have the funds to create a better quality of life. They do animate some of the more popular anime so this is just really depressing if it's true.
