So the students in the video were trying to make a point but used cursing and the n word to try to get it across. Some people are enraged about the students getting suspended and some do not know why they were suspended. I saw this shared on facebook and I asked the other comments why couldn't the students use better wording and I was told that I do not understand art.I'm not understand how I don't understand art because I though they could have used other words. What do you guys think about this video?

I don't know probably. Some people think warning aren't even okay. Because they see this as total art and think the high schoolers should be cursing. I understand the students points but I just don't like the fact that they had to use cursing and the n word.

The political correctness is nauseating.

OT: No need for them to use the N word.

Basically, school rules, foul language is prohibited. They should have just post the vid outside of school. Clearly they was being funny and they knew the consequences of their actions.

It's not uncommon when I was in grading school. I think it's different if you're in college... well at least at my college. The teachers and students may curse but only if it's dealing with the lesson. I think if this was in a college setting the girls poem would be more acceptable because normally everyone is adults and we have to deal with and read certain things that have the n word and curse words.
Isn't suspension too harsh for high school kids though?

My Psych. professor curses all the time regardless of the lesson. lol

OT: They could've used other words. Using those words provides more emphasis, but it doesn't mean that they should have been used.

There's no excuse for this, even if they were just expressing themselves, that isn't the way to do it. It's like me going to a non smoking area and starting to smoke there and then get arrested and my rebuttal is because it was "art", no, the definition of art may be subjective but laws are not, if you can't follow them then ask permission or find a way to change it, if that fails take other measures, outright breaking the law is your responsibility and problem, if you get in trouble then that's your fault. There is no excuse for why those kids shouldn't have been suspended, rules are rules art or not, they couldn't done this somewhere else.

I don't understand why they were suspended, aren't you allowed to express true feeling and emotions in a poem, espicially in a school dedicated to the arts?

If this is high school then lets grow up. My cal teacher used to swear all the time. When I went in the cafeteria all you could here was curse words flying in the air. I get the point and the message This is not suspension worthy. Could they have used better wording sure, but so can Kendrick lamar. P.S (everyone loves that guy). Just really....suspension? Kindergarden was like a decade ago. TO sum it up the school just needs to get over it and let them be. Can we all stop pretending we never cursed or heard bad words.

Teachers be like..."Can you believe that (expletive) said (expletive)." #irony

Minors in the United States don't have rights like freedom of speech. Schools have the right to dictate and enforce what ever rules they want. The parents of the minors, however, do have rights. If they wanted to change the law (ex. prayer in school) for public schools they have the ability to contest this decision and even bring it up to the ACLU and attempt to change the definition of free speech for minors in school through the Supreme Court.

It's sad that African-Americans are not well educated.

You know you should google hasty generalization before you make that claim. What you pretty much stated was a hasty generalization.Oh,I'm African-American.

This is how I feel. I thing they do have the right to express themselves but the wording could have been better.

Isn't suspension too harsh for high school kids though?

Probably. Probably not. It depends.Like if the girls were warned and didn't listen than it's understandable for them to get suspended.

How do you draw that they're not well educated from this video?

Using profanity and ghetto slurs in a poem presentation.

What generalization? I'm really saying the truth.

I can't tell what's funnier in this thread: the ironic or racist comments in here.

Anyways, there has to be some middle ground. If cursing is done in excess in order to express, then yes it would be unnecessary. But if it's placed to a great minimum, then I don't really see why that's wrong. No better way to say it.

What the hell is a ghetto slur? Using profanity makes you uneducated? You're just a bigot. Lol.
