Kamui is not an automatic defense like Gaara for instance. User would have to remain concious to use any ability. Sharingan always had a way of being used by relying on emotions this isn't new.

Kamui intangibility is automatic as long as the MS is active, it is not being intangible that requires conscious effort, I already provided 2 examples that show this. Yeah sharingan is affected by emotions but emotions boost sharingan powers never do they hinder them so that really isn't a point.

1. 1 MS Obito
2. Pain
3. DSM Kabuto (without Edo Tensei)
4. Minato (assuming Kakashi is fast enough to catch Minato, since Kakashi runs out of chakra quickly with DMS).
5. Maybe Toneri

Kakashi probably could not beat other EMS users, since they generally can maintain their PS for a long time, and have other "big" techniques to fall back on, while Kakashi's main power comes from his PS and Kamui combos. Opponents like Hashirama and BSM/RSM Naruto would also be tough for Kakashi, since they have regenerating chakra mechas and huge stamina, plus Senjutsu-enhanced reflexes.
