Stronger Generations = Summons

I have recently took notice that the more recent generations (looking at the kages) Started out with no summons, as far as we know, 1st and 2nd hokages didn't have summons... and now as the generations went on 3rd 4th and 5th all have summons, and it really, to me, made it seem like summons began becoming more popular among the ninja, helping them discover their full potential and become stronger...

It almost can be looked at from an evolutionary standpoint IMO lol

I mean for example, that is one of Tsunade's biggest pulls to her power besides raw strength, Minato and Hiruzen, became much more versatile and powerful with King Enma and Chief Toad...

Then branching out to the lower ninja, Kakashi with his hound sqad.. HELL! even Guy has his humongous turtle summon

Basically my point is that I feel, with Ninja becoming stronger over generations, summons are becoming more popular among the ones that can handle them

Not necessarily, we just have no knowledge of the early shinobi summons.....Add to that, alot of people have suggested that the Toad Sage was asummon of the SO6P and so I think it's still likely Hashirama, Tobirama and co had summons.

I wasn't fully doubting that the past pages didn't have them... Just wondering if you think that as Ninja become stronger, more summons will be used to reflect a particular ninja's skills?

It's an interesting concept, however I'm not convinced that the earlyer generations did not have summons as well. We simply know little about them.

I agree! I really don't know why you WOULDN'T want a summon

EDIT - and i agree with the others that I'm sure that previous generations had summons, we just don't have information on them

We don't know enough about the first two kages to assume they did or didn't have a summon. But I do agree that as time passes summoning will become more popular somewhat.

I actually still believe the older generation were too powerful...OK there weren't that many, i'll admit, but so far I don't think Hashirama and Madara have been bettered, and I think Tobirama, Izuna and co are on the level of Minato, Itachi, Naruto, Nagato etc. I just think that some ninjas are so strong they don't need to use summons to win battles.

my biggest wonder, what would Naruto's classmates summon? I can see Choji summoning an ape/gorilla, Hinata a lioness, Kiba would be a wolf, but he has his own dog, so is it necessary? Shino would have a giant beetle because of his infatuation with beetles, Lee would have a cougar/jaguar/puma cause of eagerness, Neji may have a lion because he feels higher up, Tenten would be an Otter because of wanting to be close to people but seldom moody, Shikamaru might have an owl for wisdom, Ino with a badger. And Sakura with a wolf because of her cleverness, trust, and loyalty towards her friends

These are based off of personalities, not powers and abilities
