It's commonly known that indra was born with hagoromo spiritual enegy and ashura was born with his body(physical energy). When these two components cobine, rinnegan awake. It means when Body and Mind of Hagoromo's son combine in one vessel, rinnegan will awake. Sharingan is physical manifestation of spiritual energy. Of course there is also concept of chakra control. If it's better, you use your chakra with better result.

Chakra potency depends on genes as well. Uchiha have naturally potent chakra because Indra had genes for strong chakra.

Spiritual energy and physical energy are just responsible for what feats the user can naturally do with chakra i.e : talent with genjutsu comes from having more Yin while ability to heal comes from having more Yang.

Indra and Ashura had their own sognature chakra. Energy is not chakra, that's what I'm emphasizing here.

Sure, but Ashura's and Indra's Chakra forms the Rinnegan because they only have one component of his chakra. Indra has his Spiritual Energy while Ashura has his Physical Energy. Hagoromo's chakra is comprised of both his Spiritual and Physical Energy, so combine both Indra's and Ashura's chakra which yield these components and you get Hagoromo's Chakra.

By stating that it's not the spiritual and physical energy of the Sage that awakens his chakra and then going off by stating it's Ashura's and Indra's Chakra that awakens the Rinnegan is essentially saying the same thing because it's the Spiritual and Physical Energy of Hagoromo that awakens his chakra.
