Warning... long story

Since the age of 3/4 I drew, I drew and I drew. However all of my drawings were terrible. I was under average at art. My little hands drew failure.
When we had Art lessons in primary school I tried so hard to do well, I tried so hard to get someone to notice my work but everyone else was talented... I was not.

Every day I would come to home from school and spend hours on youtube watching how to Draw Naruto and Sasuke tutorials, I wasn't very rich so I couldn't afford all the art equipment but thin white printing paper and 2 pencils would do me fine. It's unfair isn't it... I bet you they didn't spend hours practicing art like I did but they were still so much better than me.

In year 6 some progress was made... pictures from 7+ years ago.

These were my results. Although to some extent they were decent I was comparing my art to the people around me ... who were gifted. Between then and 2012 I drew a lot... I joined a site called Narutobase and found the art competiton.
this was the picture I entered...

Then I saw my competition... I had no chance.
Entering a second time...

For a while I did improve but the improvements were nothing to the work I put in...
I quit on Art... I was tired.

3 years later I try my hand at it again... just for fun this time. After about 20 pieces of Decent to bad work I came up with this and got a second place in the Narutobase competition ...

Today I completed this picture... It may not be perfect but I think the hard work has finally paid off.

Conclusion: don't give up on your passion even if you work hard and see no results... they will come.
Now I say I am naturally gifted at art... stay mad. :bdpf::bdpf::bdpf::bdpf:

seems odd, if you can draw pretty decently why did you enter that basic sasuke drawing into the art competition?

You've totally improved over the years!
I am the same way! When I was younger, my drawing were so horrible. But I didn't care.
I kept drawing and drawing. And naturally, I got better. However, people like to say it's
a natural talent of mine.. But they haven't seen my art from 7 years ago :p hahahaha.
If they did, they would see the improvement and effort. But then again...I do believe that
some people are naturally gifted. Because there are some people out there who seriously
cannot draw at all haha xx

Well done boy, I have a similar personal history m. I was super fat and dumb and people always bullied me for that. Now I have the same shape of Gusttavo Lima and people ask me how to eat and train.. So well, Rock Lee would be proud of us

There is nothing common in the world as talented failures. May be hardworking it self is a talent. Not everybody can do it.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

this

OT: also i want to say im not accusing anyone of anything, just thought it was weird. i mean that lion skull is way tougher to draw than the fairy tail image and if you can draw that, just doesnt add up to me as well as some other things. but im glad overall you feel confident now in your ability

Only gift i had is my intelligence basically ability to understand what's going around quickly than others but i had to work hard ( probably lot of hard work ) to be good at things I'm good at now and still have to do that when i want to be good at new things .

I have the opposite story. I was incredibly good at art during grade school but then I realized being an artist wasn't going to get me anywhere so I dropped my brush and paint so I could pick up textbooks. Then a few years later in a school art contest, my hand shook the entire time as I tried to paint inside the lines.
