[Suggestion] Stopping profile stretching,

Alright, I have realised that this problem is huge for almost everyone and TBH it is fairly annoying and unpleasant to deal with. With this I mean the constant large images posted in someone's profile or with the large profile invitation pictures. The profile would be stretched to a size when everything would look terribly unpleasant. The spoiler feature works yes, but unless you are premium you can't edit your VM's, needing someone to remove it anyway. I wanted to ask for a feature when the profile will be restricted to a certain width. The profile if you ask me should not surpass the width of 1005 pixels, or then it would just become bothersome to look at.

And automatic image resize would be neat to see so that it will fully help everyone who is bothered. We would not need to VM mods anymore or spam our own profile or have friends spam it to remove it. It would just be heaven on earth for all profile designers.

IDK if that could be made to work automatically. Though the problem lies on only the very big images, not the smaller gifs which we could post for fun. So an image size restriction on each profile or a profile width restriction would be the best thing to do.

There's also a problem with the mangabase theme on tablets/phones etc, images used in the intro width exceeds the page size and if the pics in the intro are separate they will jumble up a little to make fit. But if using the Naruto Base banner it's perfectly fine.

I mean if someone stretches your profile. It solves your problem of course. You can delete messages in your profile without premium.

Absolutely, but i don't think i can delete a message if i don't have premium so i'd have to ask Zise, Caliburn or some other mod to delete it for me, won't i?

You can delete it without premium yes, but it doesn't look like the right way to me. there are messages from friends, which you would maybe make your friend feel bad, or make him continue further. Same with trolls. Resizing it automatically would be a lote more useful!!

I am not talking about other's profile but our own. We can delete message on our profile if it's stretching it. At least our problem is solved. If we stretch someone's else profile they can do the same.

You can just apologize and ask your friend to delete that and send another message with spoiler. I did the same.

maybe they can use the same technique for VM, so that a picture will automatically be scaled to fit Profile Size?

This is what I am requesting. If you take a very large image and post it in a normal thread, it will not be stretched. A similar feature for VM would be freaking awesome!!

An autorezise plugin is basically what you're asking for, but I'm not sure that'll work well with the rest of the images on the profile template, in the sense of it resizing the background image, or the profile intro image etc. But that can probably be fixed with a few adjustments to the coding.. That being said, you also have to take into consideration that adding another plugin of this caliber to the forum would either strain the servers due to NB's database being very large, or it would not work properly in the sense of malfunctioning, again, due to NB's server sizes. Or it could work fine lol

There are ways to remedy this situation without the use of a plugin:

• Simply delete the said VM (if you're afraid of "hurting the other person's feelings", then simply tell them the image is too large and you had to delete the message. (and no, Everzstar, you don't need premium perks to delete other users' messages from your wall)
• Ask an online moderator to edit the message and add a spoiler tag to it.

Even having premium/contest perks wouldn't remedy this situation if someone sends a VM to your wall, because you can't edit other user's VM's, you can only edit your messages (unless you're a member of staff).

If you're relating this to profile designing in the time of profile judging and the contest host (usually a moderator) sees that you're profile is stretched, then I think they'll simply add a spoiler tag to the said post and continue with judging..

We will look into fixing this issue, it shouldn't be a hard thing to fix. However we have quite a bunch of other things that needs to be fixed at the same time so I can't promise how soon this will be fixed.

About the tablet thing and profiles being broken, it's because the resolution is different on tablets, and it will never look exactly the same as it does on a PC due to how the browsers on the cellphones and tablet interprets the css and html when customizing the profiles. So we can only make the default layout look good for tablets for now unfortunately. Same issue will most likely happen in some bad browsers on PC's too when making the window smaller.

I understand what you mean and I can get you perfectly. TBH I don't know how coding works and if it is gonna have a huge impact on the performance of the serves, or even make things a whole lot more difficult than they already are, but I just think it would be a better thing to have for this forum. Because many things would be fixed.

Pointless spamming in your profile won't hold you back from making a proper profile or seeing the basic commands that you need to see. Another one is that other user's which have a limited internet don't have to spend their monthly limit loading 8k images which are just a simple meme. Another one is that it will be very calming to look at other profiles of even your own. Then there are other secondary benefits which are not bothering the Mods/G-Mods/Admins to edit the message with a spoiler tag. And another one is not to spam in your profile to get rid of it, making the load of the site worse for other members.

So yeah, in my point of view, the benefits outweigh the risks, but as you said. It entirely depends on the Admins.

We will look into fixing this issue, it shouldn't be a hard thing to fix. However we have quite a bunch of other things that needs to be fixed at the same time so I can't promise how soon this will be fixed.
