Yes, 3rd was one of the greatest ever.
But he was the greatest kage of his era.
I've got lot of respect for this man but still, hashi is the best.

Still quality goes over quantity. His 1000 Jutsus won't help him against someone who is using an outstanding power like a high level Doujutsu, Kakashi with his 1000 Jutsus was mental destroyed by a mere eye contact with Itachi. And since we lack knowledge about Hiruzens prime, the strength and extent of his techniques are a mere assumption. And where was it say that he was known for massive Chakra reserves? I think this was just fetched from the air by you.

I believe that Hiruzen was truly the strongest shinobi (except for So6p) BUT i understand why people have a hard time dealing with this - overpowered-Madara is currently beating up all of the kages and it is said by "dan" that only hashi stands a chance against him...

BOTH hashi and hiruzens power is build on hype. Hashis hype is explained like this "He defeated madara so therefore he is F***ing strong".... Hiruzens hype is build by reputiation which says that he is a god of shinobi.

Ok Sarutobi became the 3rd at lets say 17 or 18. When they were ambushed by 8 men why cpuldn't the "God of shinobi" and Tobirama defeat those 8 men. Minato has the ability to take out a whole platoon of shinobi, Madara's Susanoó can cut through mountains, Harashima's wood jutsu is super epic hell even Naruto can change the geography of a place now.

I have no dough Sarutobi was powerful but he wasn't the god of Shinobi. Kish just hyped the old man up. He did well against a weaken Harashima and Tobirama. If Harashima was to go all out the village would have been hidden in the leaves and burred by trees.

But knowing a technique doesn't automatically mean that you can counter it, further it is a mere assumption that Hiruzen possesses knowledge about the Mangekyou Sharingan or Rinnegan. How he intends to counter the Sharingans Genjutsus, where a Sannin like Orochimaru and an Akatsuki like Deidara failed highly before it? And don't start even with 'Hiruzen is very skilled and know how to fight the Sharingan'. How will he intend to counter Tsukuyomi, which left an other Sharingan user mental destroyed? How can he counter Amaterasu, face Susanoo and avoid its defense? Kabuto for example had to fight with close eyes in order to avoid only the Genjuts only and only because he was a sensor he could fight him without eye contact.

I don't deny that Hiruzen was a very powerful Shinobi at his time but without feats it is absurd to call him the strongest.

He doesnt have the speed or the right defence for it...

Im really not a hater and I know Kishi said so but without any haxxed techniques he cant defeat Minato

Well, now your underestimating him once again... You can only claim these things because we haven't seen 1 % of his full power yet... we have only seen him fighting when old, which means we haven't seen his full potential..
He was trained by Hashi and Tobirama (Hashi did very well know about the secrets of sharingan / how sharingan worked - agree?) + he was called "THE" professor - famous for knowing all jutsus - so why woulden't he know about the sharingan?

Do you firmly believe that he woulden't stand a chance against susanoo, amaterasu and tsukuyomi, well knowing all the hype kishi has put up for him?

- don't underestimate him just because you saw him fight as a old guy... think about the things that kishi has described him as...

FFS Orochimaru battled an Old Man. For him being "The Legendary Sannin" he should beat Hiruzen easily. Yet Hiruzen totally owned him and past 2 Kages [Including Hashi XDDDDDD] at once.

Well sir - Hiruzen was still known for being the "god of shinobi" even when minato lived.. Minato was probably stronger than Hiruzen when minato was hokage, but that was only because hiruzen was to old...

Minatos reputation was really magnifiecent, but who would you fear the most; A man so powerfull that he was called a god, or a man who was so fast that when seen on eyesight - RUN.

They were both very strong but kishi made hiruzen the strongest when calling him "a god"

hype is dependent on the shinobi that are giviong the hype.

When madara says hasihrama is epic, thats not the same as iuka saying the third hokage was the strongest.

U see the difference.


But because the third hokage was haled as the god of shinobi with the likes of onnoki and the third raikage in his era this means alot. So I agree lets not underestimate him consdiering we know bearly anything about his prime.

But also lets not say noob things like hes the strongest under the so6p, because thats just silly.

Well, now your underestimating him once again... You can only claim these things because we haven't seen 1 % of his full power yet...

And that is the point, we haven't seen anything from him and can thus only assume what he could do. He could avoid Amaterasu, he could avoid his Genjutsu and fight Susanoo, but feat wise he can't. How can we underestimate someone whose power is all in all unknown.
