Many people or shall i say just about 99.99 percent of people on this base play fast and loose with many defintions.
I have tried to help people understand a few things like the difference between plot device and plot hole.
And the phrase plot no justu to no avail of course.Now another term is being used horrendously wrong on this base.
The term is fanboy.It is almost universally seen as a bad thing on this base.
Most people describe a fan boy as someone who uses no logic and are just flat out annoying.
There is already a term for both actions.There called trolls and idiots.People who have no idea what there talking about are the exact opposite of a fanboyA real fanboy is someone who knows what they are actually talking about.
The persona around fanboyism is that there immersed inside the culture of whatever there so into to a point of obession.
I like fanboys since i myself am one of those.
Go to comicon or a convention and you will see the pro's of talking to like minded people who share the same intensity level of the same interest.Its the best.You can sit there and talk for hours.Once again you can't do that with trolls or idiots.If what you consider to be a fan boy on the base ever showed up to a convention they would get laughed right out the door.
So can we try actually using the correct terms here people ?
So next time you come across anyone who is blatantly wrong or is trolling call them by what they actually are stubborn idiots and trolls.
[This does not mean fanboys can't argue or can't be wrong]
However the ratio to that compared to idiots and trolls are drastically different since once again a fanboy status is forged by the knowledge and devotion one holds to that subject.
And if you know little to nothing about what your talking about you can hardly be considered a fanboy.
