it could be said that naruto won the battle at the falls because his purpose was to put a mark on sasukes forehead protector and not kill him. also sasuke was given the curse mark aswell

naruto was already influenced by the kyuubi's chakra the whisker proves this

sasuke would have died at the falls if it wasnt for cm, but wasnt narutos goal

Naruto is the Main Character. Luck has nothing to do with it. Minato bestowed the Kyuubi into Naruto fro the future of the world against Obito. Anime in itself defies logic. Again, not handed the Kyuubi. About Sasuke, he awaken Mangekyou Sharingan. He had to awaken Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan once you obtain a sibling eyes. Only when you obtain the sibling eyes can you awaken Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan.
