Stop CISPA

The House has just passed the bill called Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA).

The bill has more than 100 sponsors in Congress, with support from Democrats and Republicans alike. Outside of Congress, CISPA has the support of more than 800 companies--if you count trade groups like the Business Software Alliance and CTIA. Individual sponsors include AT&T, Facebook, Intel, Microsoft, and Verizon.

Bigger list of main-stream supporters include:

AT&T
Boeing
BSA
Business Roundtable
CSC
COMPTEL
CTIA - The Wireless Association
Cyber, Space & Intelligence Association
Edison Electric
EMC
Exelon
Facebook
The Financial Services Roundtable
IBM
Independent Telephone & Telecommunications Alliance
Information Technology Industry Council
Intel
Internet Security Alliance
Lockheed Martin
Microsoft
National Cable & Telecommunications Association
NDIA
Oracle
Symantec
TechAmerica
US Chamber of Commerce
US Telecom - The Broadband Association
Verizon

So what does this bill do exactly? In a nutshell, this bill gives the governement the authorization to take, share, and shut-down anything and everything on the internet in the name of "cyber protection". They can check your e-mails, pictures, videos, messages, and the list goes on and on. If there's a video on youtube that is anti-government, it will be shut-down. If your girlfriend sends you a picture, they will see it. If you are planning to start a rally/protest via internet, they will take the information and have authorities there to stop you before you even arrive. This is complete control and disregard for humanity in general as it is the internet, not just the U.S If this bill passes the internet will never be the same again. Now you can read between the lines of the bill, and try to disect all of the big words to try and make some good of it, but the fact is that this is an invasion of privacy, and completely illegal. They are basically treating us like criminals, innocent until proven guilty is out of the window and they can now search you without consent via internet. I know I'm using some rather exaggerated examples, but this is the reality of it. The government wants to rule the internet, and we cannot allow it to happen.

What can we do? First off, if you're not in the U.S you're virtually out of the loop, but you can still spread the word which in itself is still extremely helpful. Since this bill has already passed the House We have to bombard the state senators with calls and e-mails/letters opposing this bill, we have to let our voice be heard. We also have to sign the petition. In the following two links you can find out who is your current senator (class 1), and it also provides the phone numbers. This also provides their twitter accounts and official sites which includes information such as office locations, and e-mail accounts. The other link is to the petition. If you love the internet and freedom, get off your ass and do something. This bill is SOPA on steroids. If NB did it before, we need to do it again. I ask that we please black out parts of the banner, and post anti-CISPA links with information on how to stop this bill from passing.

Here is the link that I previously mentioned >>

Here is another site where you can sign the petition to oppose this bill >> (FYI, you don't have to donate anything for your petition to take effect)

The House passed it, the Senate will pass it, and Obama will sign it. The only way it was going to get stopped was in the House

Now were going to have to wait until someone sues the government over this and hope that the Supreme Court declares it illegal

It happened just yesterday. The Senate still has the power to stop it, but there's no telling if they will seeing as the House completely ignored the people. One thing is for sure though, if it passes the Senate Obama will not stop it.
son of a bitch, what the f^ck gives the usa to make a decision that involves the whole world! we dont own the internet, it belongs to everyone! why dont the people get a ****ing vote

The Senate would have passed SOPA if there was a vote on it, but it the House had a massive war over SOPA at the time and Boehner knew he couldn't pass it

So to counter this, Boehner slipped CISPA in for a quick vote so that no one would notice and he wouldn't have another massive war over it. It honestly just shows that our Congressmen often do what their told, because if they knew about it I highly doubt it would have passed

So like I said, it'll probably pass. I can write an e-mail to my Senators, but they'll laugh it off. I live in a state where people vote for the letter next to someones name and not an actual person. So even though my Senators are openly supporting it, the one up for election this year WILL get re-elected even if the entire state disagrees with the bill. It just goes to show that our government is broken, and the people are just as much to blame as the government

I agree, but we still have to try and get the word out. The more people know the harder it will be for them to carry out their plans. The only thing I can think of is that this is all just a big hoax, and Obama will veto it in order to gain the respect of the populace for the up-coming election. I highly doubt that would happen seeing as he already signed something as ridiculous as NDAA, but I wouldn't be surprised either.

This is only an excuse to make people forget about other problems like low employment rate.
The U.S government fails again.
I'm not proud to live in this country.

Like I said, it's a possibility, but I highly doubt it. Obama has done so many bad things during his term that the people who are aware will vote against him whether he vetoes the bill or not. He's got nothing to lose on this one, he will more than likely sign it.
