Because Rin was the only one who supported and believed his dream about becoming Hokage.
People misjudge his action saying that he's doing this because he loved Rin though it was the secondary reason and not the first.

The problem is, Naruto kept beating around the bush and avoiding the main issue. He just went with the usual, "Never give up hope, Hokage don't take shortcuts", while completely avoiding the fact that Obito wanted to end the world because he thinks that it's a living hell. Naruto didn't even disprove that notion. The just spilled the same speech that he gave to Nagato, pointing out the obvious, with nothing insightful at all.

That is why Obito shouldn't have been TNJed. At least not in this way.
